മലയാള സാഹിത്യത്തിന്റെ മഹാനായ സ്രഷ്ടാവും ജ്ഞാനപീഠം, കേരള സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി പുരസ്കാരം, സാഹിത്യ രത്നം എന്നിവ ഉൾപ്പെടെ നിരവധി പുരസ്കാരങ്ങൾ നേടിയ മലയാളികളുടെ പ്രിയ എഴുത്തുകാരൻ എം.ടി. വാസുദേവൻ നായരുടെ നിര്യാണത്തിൽ ആഴമായ ദുഃഖം രേഖപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു.
കേരളത്തിന്റെ സാംസ്കാരിക ലോകത്ത് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സംഭാവനകൾ അപാരമാണ്.
നാലുകെട്ട്, രണ്ടാമൂഴം, കാലം, മഞ്ഞ്, അസുരവിത്ത് എന്നീ നോവലുകൾ മലയാള സാഹിത്യത്തിലെ അമൂല്യ രത്നങ്ങളാണ്. സിനിമാ ലോകത്തും അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ സൃഷ്ടികളിലൂടെ അനശ്വരമായ പാതകൾ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു. ഒരു വടക്കൻ വീരഗാഥ, തിരാമ്പ്, കടവ് തുടങ്ങിയ ചിത്രങ്ങൾക്ക് തിരക്കഥയെഴുതി മലയാള സിനിമക്ക് പുതിയ ദിശ നൽകി.
മികച്ച സംവിധായകനായും പരിഗണിക്കപ്പെട്ട അദ്ദേഹം നിശാഗന്ധി, കടവ് തുടങ്ങിയ സിനിമകളിലൂടെ പ്രേക്ഷകരുടെ ഹൃദയം കീഴടക്കി.
ജ്ഞാനപീഠം, കേരള സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി പുരസ്കാരം, സാഹിത്യ രത്നം എന്നിവ ഉൾപ്പെടെ നിരവധി പുരസ്കാരങ്ങൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ തേടി എത്തി .
കേരളത്തിന്റെ സ്വർണ്ണകാലത്തെ പ്രതിനിധീകരിക്കുന്ന എഴുത്തുകാരനെന്ന നിലയിൽ എം.ടിയുടെ സംഭാവനകൾ എന്നും മലയാളികളുടെ അഭിമാനമാകും.
