For a few hours, the hall was filled with numbers, fast calculations, restless excitement, and children waiting for their turn.

But what stayed behind after Arithletics 2026 was not just the prizes; it was the look on the faces of children who realised they could stand there, compete there, and belong there.

In Thiruvananthapuram, the event became a celebration of effort, growth, and the confidence that comes with children beginning to believe in their own potential.

There were pauses. There were mistakes. Some words came out unsure.

But one after another, these children stood up, took the mic, and spoke anyway.

At Speakathon, the public speaking showcase of EmpowerEd’s 4 line program, confidence mattered more than perfection—and for many of these children, that was the real victory.

Some came quietly hoping to win. Some came simply hoping to try.
But by the end of Arithletics 2026, the smiles, cheers, and proud faces told a bigger story.

For these children, it was never just about prizes—it was about discovering that they could do more than they thought they could.

“Last year, Sreeyaansh would hesitate to read and rarely answer on his own. Now he tries more confidently, reads with less fear, and is beginning to respond when asked,” shared Ms Nitha, his English teacher at Govt. Girls L.P. School in Ernakulam.

Some gaps remain, but the change is clear.

At Begin’s one-year evaluations, we saw children beginning to believe they could do more.

“For once, we were not rushing to finish a lesson or prepare for class,” said Remya, one of our SMARTlearner teachers. “We were simply together.”

Between the streets of Fort Kochi, the boat ride, and conversations along the way, laughter came easily and bonds grew deeper.

Sometimes the strongest teams are built not in classrooms, but in moments like these.

“When they first came, many would give up quickly,” one teacher recalled. “Now they stay with the challenge.”

At a Government-funded school in Chellanam, in Ernakulam district, the change was seen not only in marks but also in patience, focus, and the confidence to keep trying.

As another SMARTlearner batch concludes, the real result is not just what they learned, but how they now learn.

“You can see it in the classroom now: the way they respond, the way they try,” the Math teacher shared, as the others nodded in agreement.

Across subjects — Math, English, Science, and Social Studies — the shift was the same: children are more engaged, more eager to learn.

At a rural government-funded school in Pottayilkkada, Trivandrum, this wasn’t just feedback; it was classrooms speaking for themselves.

“I used to sit with her every day… reminding, pushing, sometimes even worrying.
Today, I just watched her: focused, quick, and sure of herself,” shared one of the parents.

At St. Thomas GHS, a government-funded school in Ernakulam, this moment felt different for many parents: not new, but a quiet confirmation of how far their children have come.

Aarav traced each letter slowly.
Ryan read fast—but couldn’t quite tell what he had read.
Neela smiled, eager to answer, even when the words didn’t come.

In a Grade 1 classroom in Cheranallur, every child was trying, just in very different ways.

This wasn’t just about reading—
school leadership and teachers spoke about children hesitating, fearing mistakes, and struggling to understand what they read.
At Govt. L.P. School, Cheranallur, these insights are shaping how Begin will help children read with clarity and learn with confidence.
