District-Level Capacity Building for Peer Support Group Leaders
Arogya Agam successfully conducted a District-Level Capacity Building for Peer Support Group Leaders, bringing together 24 women representatives from 8 blocks across the district. The programme aimed to strengthen leadership capacity, improve coordination, and build a strong district-wide peer support system for single women.
The training emphasized on strengthening district-level leadership and coordination, enhancing facilitation and group management skills, improving knowledge on protection mechanisms, rights, and referral linkages, building advocacy and community mobilization strategies, strengthening reporting and documentation systems and promoting mental health and psychosocial support approaches.
The participants engaged in an interactive session on Public Speaking and Personality Development, learning how to structure impactful speeches, overcome stage fear, and build confidence. Through practice and peer feedback, women leaders strengthened their ability to speak effectively at block and district forums. Game-based group activities highlighted the importance of trust, collaboration, shared responsibility, and collective leadership—reinforcing that strong peer systems are built on unity and cooperation.
Technical discussions covered protection and referral systems, effective group facilitation, advocacy strategies, documentation practices, and mental health support—ensuring leaders are equipped to guide and support vulnerable women in their communities.
The programme was greatly enriched by the valuable guidance of Dr. S.M. Simon, Director, Arogya Agam, Mr. T.V. Murugesan, Assistant Director, Mr. Tamilanban, Manager and Ms. Sugappriya, Convener.
