Quilt project is born as a part of the strong will power and commitment of village development project initiated as corporate social responsibility project of CSR Cell, Karve Institute of social service, Pune (KINSS) & Mazagon dock Shipbuilders Limited, Mumbai (MDL)
It was stared in December 2015, that field staff of KINSS started interacting with women from all hamlets of Kharade grampanchayat to assess the entrepreneur opportunities for women & training needs among them. During one of that dialogues women came up with the skills of making quilts out of old cloths at their household level.
And, It was picked up by the team as an area where these women’s skills can be given way for entrepreneurship development. Initially the thought was shared with women & they started laughing at it and asked even if we make it, who will buy? Also we make it with old cloths & we don’t have money to purchase new cloths for it.
