Today is Sri Jagannatha Ratha Yatra, a centuries-old festival held in Jagannath Puri, India. The Jagannath Ratha Yatra, also known as the Cart Festival, commemorates the return of Lord Krishna (Jagannath) to Vrindavan, the place where He spent His youth, accompanied by His brother Balarama and sister Subhadra.

Tomorrow is Apara Ekadashi. The Ekadashi that occurs during the dark fortnight (krishna paksha) of the month of Jyeshtha (May-June) is called Apara Ekadashi. By observing Apara Ekadashi, all types of sinners become completely free of their sinful reactions.

Upon anyone who observes it, this Ekadasi bestows material enjoyment in this life and liberation after the death of this present body.
One should chant Hare Krishna Mahamantra as much as possible because this pleases Shri Krishna very much and gets progress in devotion easily.

Lord Krishna advented in the form of half-lion half-man incarnation Lord Narasimha to protect His devotee Prahlad from his demoniac father Hiranyakashipu. Because of performing severe austerities, Hiranyakashipu had received a special benediction from Lord Brahma that he could not be killed by any human being, demigod or animal or any other entities; he could not be killed by any kind of weapons, neither during day nor night. So, the Lord appeared in half-man half-lion form and killed him with His nails at twilight, thus satisfying all the conditions. Narasimhadeva appeared at dusk on the Shukla Chaturdashi (fourteenth day of the bright fortnight) in the month of Vaishakha.
