Aawaaz-e-Niswaan organised a two-day para legal awareness training for women from different communities, including women who have faced domestic violence. The aim was to help them understand their basic rights and the laws that are there to protect them.

The sessions were taken by Shivani, Pranali and Salman from They spoke in simple language about important topics like the Domestic Violence Act, protection from sexual harassment, laws for children, personal laws of different religions, and how the police and courts work. The women also learned about new types of violence happening through mobile phones and the internet, such as online harassment, blackmail, cyberbullying, fake profiles, deepfake videos and other digital abuse.

The training helped the women know where to go for help, how to approach the police, and how to connect with support services. They learned what steps they can take to keep themselves and their children safe. This awareness made them feel more confident to speak out, ask for help and stand up for their rights.

Through such programmes, Aawaaz-e-Niswaan is working to build strong, aware and fearless women in the community.

Girls from 14 community groups spoke openly about what holds them back: family pressures, everyday gender bias, unsafe transport, hostile public spaces, and the growing dangers of the digital world. But they didn’t stop at naming the problems they collectively shaped recommendations that will travel all the way to the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) 2026. These young leaders are rewriting the narrative.

They’re demanding safety, equality, and freedom and they’re ensuring their voices echo far beyond their communities.
We are proud to stand with them in the fight to end gender-based violence.

The women from our Aawaaz-e-Niswaan community recently visited the Kurla Police Station as part of an exposure visit under the Para Legal training program. The goal was to better understand the workings of the police station and familiarize themselves with the laws that protect and empower women. Both the officers, including PSI Pathan Madam, were very welcoming and shared valuable information about laws concerning women and children. To make the visit even more pleasant, the police graciously offered tea and refreshments for all women.

Aawaaz-e-Niswaan's participation in the Mumbra Carnival was a significant event that allowed the women involved in the Zist Tarashi 2.0 photography workshop to showcase their work. These women, who had learned the art of photography through their mobile phones due to the unavailability of DSLR cameras, were given a unique opportunity to exhibit their perspective of life. The workshops, conducted by the Photography Promotion Trust, were a platform for these women to explore their creativity and capture the world around them. The streets of Mumbra became an unexpected yet perfect canvas for the women to present their stories and images to the public. It was a moment they hadn’t anticipated — the chance to share their vision and experiences with a wider audience, which not only empowered them but also showcased the raw, unfiltered beauty of everyday life as seen through their eyes.
