Darrang College (Autonomous), in collaboration with Tezpur Girls' HS School and under the aegis of 5 Assam Bn NCC, celebrated NCC Day on 23 November 2025.

The programme was graced by Col. T.N. Unnikrishnan, CO, 5 Assam Bn NCC; Col. Madhab Boro, Adm Officer; Dr. Palash Moni Saikia, Principal, Darrang College (Autonomous); Prof. Pranab Jyoti Das, Vice Principal; Dr. Abhijit Bora, Professor & Head, Mass Communication and Journalism; ANOs of both institutions, PI Staff, parents, and cadets.

The celebration commenced with a Guard of Honour presented to the Commanding Officer, followed by an impressive Battle Demonstration and a vibrant Cultural Programme. The Battle Demonstration was hosted by SUO Neelam Chetry, while CPL Kangkana Basumatary and CPL Lavi Sharma anchored the Cultural segment.

In their addresses, the Commanding Officer, 5 Assam Bn NCC and the Principal, Darrang College (Autonomous) highlighted the significance of NCC Raising Day, the values and discipline to be upheld by cadets, and the historic contributions of NCC. A special emphasis was laid on the remarkable role played by the NCC cadets of Darrang College during the Chinese Aggression of 1962, when cadets assisted the civil administration and helped in performing the solemn duty of burying the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation. The speakers also recalled with pride the visit of Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi to Darrang College in 1963, during which a Guard of Honour was presented by the cadets of the college, marking a glorious chapter in the institution’s NCC legacy.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by SUO Neelam Chetry, followed by NCC Song and National Anthem.

Cadets from Darrang College (Autonomous) NCC, under the aegis of 5 Assam Bn NCC, participated in the Unity March organized by the District Administration, Tezpur, Sonitpur, on 1st November 2025, to commemorate the 150 Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India. The rally, symbolizing the spirit of unity and integrity, began from Church Field, passed through Kanaklata Civil Chariali andTribeni Complex, and concluded at Church Field, Tezpur.

Darrang College (Autonomous) NCC, under the aegis of 5 Assam Bn NCC, Tezpur, conducted a ‘Cleanliness Drive’ at the premises of Mahabhairab Mandir on 2nd October 2025, marking the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti as part of the annual campaign “Swachhata Hi Seva” (SHS).

A total of 20 cadets along with the ANO actively participated in the drive. The initiative aimed to honour Mahatma Gandhi by promoting cleanliness in public spaces and creating awareness among cadets and the community about the nationwide sanitation movement. It also sought to strengthen the Swachh Bharat Mission by reinforcing the belief that “Sanitation is everyone’s responsibility”—a step forward in realizing Gandhiji’s vision of a clean and green India.

Akhil Bharatiya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad (ABTYP), Tezpur, in association with the District Administration, Sonitpur, organized a Mega Blood Donation Drive on 17th September 2025 at Mahashraman Bhawan. A total of 12 cadets from Darrang College (Autonomous) participated by donating blood. Their noble and selfless contribution is deeply appreciated, as it will help save precious lives in times of need and emergency.

The NCC new enrollment process was conducted at Darrang College (Autonomous) on 08 September 2025 under the supervision of the 5 Assam Bn NCC, represented by Sub. Kenilo Cheng, Hav. Ajay Sharma and Hav. Anurag Thapa. The process comprised both physical and written tests.

A total of 63 students participated in the enrollment, including 36 girls and 27 boys. The program was carried out in a smooth and orderly manner.

On the occasion of National Sports Day, observed on 29th August 2025, a total of 54 cadets participated in a Walk-A-Thon from Darrang College to Poruwa Chariali. The event was organized jointly by IQAC, Darrang College (Autonomous), NCC, and NSS as part of the three-day celebration aimed at promoting health and fitness among students.

On 12 August 2025, coinciding with International Youth Day, the District Administration, Sonitpur, in collaboration with the Assam State AIDS Control Society (ASACS), Khanapara, Guwahati, launched the State-Level Intensified IEC Campaign on HIV/AIDS awareness at the Martyr’s Memorial Park Convention Centre, Dhekiajuli. Shri Ashok Singhal, Hon’ble Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Assam, attended the programme as the Chief Guest.

A total of 39 cadets along with the ANO of Darrang College actively participated in the event. The programme began with an awareness rally from Martyr’s Park to the Martyr’s Park Convention Centre, Dhekiajuli. A short documentary on HIV/AIDS was screened for the students, followed by an address by the Chief Guest, highlighting the importance of awareness and preventive measures against HIV/AIDS.

The event served as an important platform to sensitize the youth and the community on the issue, in alignment with the theme of International Youth Day.
