Access to correct health information remains a major challenge for many young women, especially in rural and tribal regions. Awareness and education are essential to empower them to make informed decisions about their health.
On the occasion of International WomenтАЩs Day, Dr. Barkha Gadpale (MBBS, MD) delivered an online lecture as an expert speaker during a WomenтАЩs Health Awareness Workshop at Raja Bhoj Agriculture College, Balaghat.
The workshop was organized with the theme:
тАЬWomenтАЩs Health, Leadership and Employment Opportunities.тАЭ
The program aimed to motivate students and women about health awareness, self-reliance, and opportunities available in various fields.
During the session, Dr. Barkha interacted with students and discussed important topics related to womenтАЩs preventive healthcare, including:
тАв Menstrual hygiene and reproductive health
тАв Proper use of sanitary products and menstrual hygiene practices
тАв Breast cancer awareness and early detection
тАв Cervical cancer prevention and the importance of HPV vaccination
тАв Addressing common menstrual health concerns among students
A special discussion was also held on menstrual cups, explaining how they can be a safe, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible alternative to disposable sanitary products.
Dr. Barkha has been actively working for tribal healthcare in Nandurbar district through RS Social Welfare Foundation, Taloda and RS Charitable Hospital, Taloda, focusing on initiatives such as sickle cell awareness, anganwadi health support, malnutrition awareness, medical camps, and preventive health education in tribal villages.
The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Pooja Goswami, and students participated enthusiastically through discussions, speeches, and interactive sessions.
It was encouraging that the program and its impact were also shared by the official social media handle of the Collector Office, Balaghat, highlighting the importance of womenтАЩs health awareness and empowerment initiatives.
Through initiatives like these, RS Social Welfare Foundation, Taloda continues its commitment to strengthening womenтАЩs health awareness, preventive healthcare, and community empowerment in rural and tribal regions.
