We are a group of women from a small town in the State of Andhra
Pradesh, South India. We have the urge and burning desire to do
something for the development of women and children in the locality
and in the areas around. Our concerns are :
They do not have economic independence and as a girl and woman they
are always under control of men. In the lower middle and poor sections, the gir
ls are not attending school. In the first place, they do not want to send their children to school. Instead
they use them as child laborers/baby sitters. Some families who are in a
position to send the kids to school, they prefer to send the boy. The girls
do get very little chance to join a school and drop out quickly. There is system of child marriages. Even though it it an offence of law of t
he land, the elders perform the marriages of children. Dropout rate of girls is very high. They do not show any interest to learn
Early marriages, pregnancy, high rate of infant mortality, No
health awareness . They are submissive and subordinate and do not realize the necessity of
their active role in the affairs of the family. Plight of women section will give you the complete picture of Indian
women and their distress. We want change this scenario and we seek the help of philanthropic
women groups to cater the needs. We need help to help these people. setstats
