ShantiSharmi Remedial Charitable Trust is a local non-profit educational organization working in the benefit of students with learning disabilities in Surat, INDIA. Since 2001, we have played a leading role in educating mentally challenged children of ages 5 up to 20 through the use of specialized techniques and therapies. Using special learning techniques, we provide parallel learning pathways to help slow-learning students (dyslexic, autistic) overcome the challenges from mainstream education such as school maths, science and languages, with an end goal to achieve certification from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). For students with more challenging mental conditions such as mental retardation or genetic deformations such as cerebral palsy, we offer therapeutic methods such as sand pit play, play dough and furthermore an environment where they feel cared for. Our objective is to create awareness among schools of Surat, optimally use our resources and work with up to 30 students at the ShantiSharmi Remedial Center providing them individual attention and personalized care.
