SAHAS-NJCT is a key partner in the “Child Friendly City”initiative of UNICEF and Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) implemented by Urban Health and Climate Resilience Center of Excellence ( UHCRCE) of SMC.
A workshop on a “Child Protection Vulnerability Mapping” was organised to understand the needs of children regarding protection and safety in the city. SAHAS- NJCT actively participated in the workshop and contributed to sharing of experiences for an effective outcome.

“ Samruddhi or Barbadi” - the choice is yours!
An interactive session on Alcohol/drug and substance abuse was held with students of 8th standard in government school with emphasise on awareness of choice, personal responsibility and understanding of consequences. Many students had some knowledge on the topic , mostly gained from media such as television. However, they were very receptive to learn more about the harmful effects of alcohol and drugs on self, family and society at large. Additionally , they found it useful to know of health services in the city where persons with such issues could go to if they needed help.
