URGENT APPEAL FOR MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

We are reaching out to you with a heartfelt appeal to help a poor young man in dire need of medical assistance. This young man, who is the sole breadwinner of his family, requires urgent surgery to treat a serious medical condition.

*GMC Srinagar celebrated the International Day of the Girl Child at UPHC Nishat:*
On October 11, 2024, in recognition of International day of the Girl Child under the theme “Girls vision for future ,” the Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar organized a comprehensive CME cm training session in the field practice area to educate and train the healthcare workers , anganwadi workers and participants from the community including mothers and adolescent girls, putting an emphasis on girl empowerment, their healthcare , education , amplifying their voices , action and leadership. The event was hosted at UPHC Nishat, Block Hazratbal.
The event was held under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Iffat Hassan Shah, Principal & Dean Government Medical college Srinagar and the leadership of Dr. S. Muhammad Salim Khan , HOD Community Medicine, Government Medical College Srinagar. The organising secretaries Dr. Kouser Sideeq, Dr. Sameena Yousuf and Dr Rifat Jan, Assistant Professors in the Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College Srinagar coordinated the event while it was moderated by Dr Fara Shafi, Block Medical Officer, Hazratbal.
Key note address about the issues faced by girl child and need to address them was given by Prof. (Dr.) Muhammad Salim Khan HOD Community Medicine. A guest lecture on the occasion was delivered by Dr Touseef Ahmed official a renowned social activist who is working extensively for girl child education and women empowerment. On international Day for Girl child DrTouseef Ahmed Bhatt stressed on the girl child. He emphasized "You are valued, You are worthy, You are empowered, You are the future".
The program featured a comprehensive training session by Assistant Professors from the Department of Community Medicine which included introductory remarks about the issues among girls by Dr. Rifat Jan followed by sessions on sensitisation about Child s*x abuse by Dr. Sameena Yousuf and Challenges faced by the Girl child by Dr. Kouser sideeq. A role play was presented by ASHAs of Block Hazratbal on the importance of girl child care. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Mymoona.
With the right support from the community the girls empowerment in terms of health , education and community status can be improved exponentially and such events can be beneficial for achieving this goal.

**RED DROP - A Unit of Blood Donors Launched on World Blood Donors Day**

Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir - June 14, 2024 - On the occasion of World Blood Donors Day, a significant initiative was launched to honor and support blood donors in the region. RED DROP, a unit of Blood Donors, was officially inaugurated in a grand ceremony held at a prestigious venue in Srinagar. The event was graced by esteemed guests and dignitaries, including Chief Guest Javeed Ahmed Tenga (President of KCC&I) and Guest of Honour Mr. Jhangir Bakshi (Secretary of DLSA).

The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent figures in the community, such as Astt Director Health Dr. Arjmand Bashir, Chairman of Baseera the Home (NGO) Sheikh Bashir, Chairman of Greenland Foundation Er. Suhail Jan, Chairman of Chote Tare Foundation Arjumand Maqddomi, and Chairman of Rehmat Sheikh Firdous Ali, Irfana Zargar (Pad women of Kashmir)President Rotary Club of Kashmir Sdr Manjeet singh Chairman KRSF Nasir Ali Khan,Sayyed Parvez Qalander Representatives from Trade Altaf Ahmed Dar and others Syed Ajaz Khashani Adv Syed Mujtaba Adv Asif Rashid ,Adv Asrar Ali , M amin Dar,Shahid Khan Fajr (Youngest Donor) Imran Zargar (Co ordinator ) Fajad Sultan Team DLSA ,RED DROP whole Team ,Principal ,Faculty members and students of Greenland Foundation and Volunteers from various organizations.Their presence underscored the importance of promoting blood donation and supporting those in need.

Dr. Touseef, Chairman and Founder of RED DROP, along with Shabir Hussain President RED DROP (known as the Blood Man of Kashmir) and Bilkees Ara President RED DROP President Women wing (known as the Blood Women of Kashmir), felicitated the blood donors for their selfless contributions to saving lives. Dr. Touseef Ahmed delivered a poignant address highlighting the critical importance of regular blood donations in ensuring the availability of life-saving blood for those in need.

The event was a celebration of compassion, generosity, and community spirit, as individuals and organizations came together to support a noble cause. RED DROP aims to continue its mission of promoting blood donation, raising awareness, and ensuring a stable and sufficient blood supply for hospitals and patients in Kashmir.
