The Peoples’ Environmental Council (PEC) organised a follow-up and final round of the “Daptum Te Pakaye” on 29.08.2026 at Amar Singh Club, Srinagar. The follow-up session to the first round held on 18.07.2026 was organised in workshop mode to evolve the three-year plan and program for PEC. Trustee PEC Javed Hussain Mir, with the support of five facilitator members, conducted the workshop. The event featured the participation of a special guest, Shri M. Y. Tarigami, Chairman, Committee on Environment, Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

As part of the three-year PEC Plan and Program, four resolutions were adopted.

1. Task Teams to execute the three-year Plan and Program to be constituted: It was resolved that the PEC will constitute Task Teams. The task team will lead and take forward the PEC mission and shall function as the action and implementation arm of PEC, ensuring that the energy generated through Daptum - Te - Pakaye is translated into sustained and measurable action.

2. Youth PEC launched: Recognising that the environmental future of Kashmir belongs fundamentally to its young people, it was resolved to launch a parallel vertical of PEC which will be initially led by PEC Youth Champions. The Youth PEC will primarily focus on reviving the "Catch Them Young Campaign," launched by PEC with IUST's support, and attract other young environmental champions and volunteers who share PEC's values and objectives.

3. PEC Patron elected: In recognition of his distinguished contribution to education, research, environmental discourse and public life, and in appreciation of his guidance and support to the environmental initiatives of PEC, the members unanimously resolved to elect Prof Shakil A Romshoo, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Islamic University of Science and Technology and a member of PEC, the members unanimously resolved to elect Prof Romshoo as the Patron PEC.

The Council places on record its appreciation for Prof. Romshoo's association with PEC and looks forward to his continued guidance, encouragement and support in advancing the Council's mission.

4. PEC funding: The members recognised that meaningful environmental action requires a modest but dependable financial foundation. Various suggestions for generating funds for the activities of the PEC were given by the participating members. The Council is evolving a mechanism to generate funds to fuel its initiatives.

The Peoples’ Environmental Council (PEC) held an extraordinary condolence meeting of its members to mourn the sad demise of its Patron, GH Kango Sahab. Members expressed their deep grief over the irreparable loss and remembered Kango Sahab’s valuable contribution, guidance, and association with PEC.

Prayers were offered by the members for the eternal peace of the departed soul and for his admission into Jannatul Firdaus. The members also prayed for strength and solace for the bereaved family during this difficult time.

Later, a delegation of PEC members, led by Chairman Dr. Khurshid A Salman and comprising Vice Chair Tanveer Jahan, Prof. Javed Syed, Athar Parvaiz, Qazi Shagufta, and Sakib Qadri, visited the residence of Kango Sahab to convey their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

As a mark of respect and remembrance, the delegation presented a photo memoir of Kango Sahab to the family, commemorating his association and cherished memories with PEC.

PEC stands with the bereaved family in this hour of grief and prays that Almighty Allah grants Kango Sahab the highest place in Jannah and gives the family strength and patience to bear this irreparable loss.

The *Namaz-e-Janazah* will be offered at *2:00 PM* at their residence, Rose Land, Rajbagh, near Masjid Noor.

The Peoples' Environmental Council (PEC) is pleased to partner with the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) in organising the International Conference on Nature-Based Solutions (NbS), scheduled to be held from 3rd to 6th August 2026.
