JKRETTF Ready for Greater Unity of All RET Factions: Tantray

Jammu/Srinagar, Sept 8: The Jammu & Kashmir Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum (JKRETTF) has expressed its readiness for a genuine greater unity of all factions and organisations representing RET teachers, with Forum Chairman Farooq Ahmed Tantray calling for all groups to come together under one umbrella in the larger interest of the teaching community.

Speaking during a virtual meeting of the forum, Tantray said that there are several factions within the RET cadre and that a true greater unity can only be achieved when all factions come together on one platform, keeping aside their differences.

The forum extended an open appeal and invitation to all RET teacher groups, including those led by Saleem Sagar and Vinod Sharma, Shah Fayaz and Bhupinder Singh, Chairman Pritam Diwan, State President Rajesh Singh and Senior Vice President Shiv Dev Singh, besides all other factions and organisations representing RET teachers.

Tantray said that JKRETTF was ready to support and participate in any genuine initiative aimed at bringing all RET factions together. He said the objective of such unity should be to collectively pursue the pending issues and welfare of the RET teaching community.

“Greater unity should mean that all factions come together under one umbrella,” the forum leadership said, stressing that unity should not be limited to selective groups or individuals.

The forum leaders, however, cautioned against what they described as false or premature claims of greater unity, saying such claims could mislead common teachers. They maintained that genuine unity must be based on mutual respect, transparency, inclusiveness and a common agenda.

The leadership reiterated that JKRETTF remains open to every sincere effort for bringing the entire RET fraternity together and resolving their long-pending issues through a united platform.

JKRETTF Welcomes Draft Transfer Policy, Seeks Suggestions;

Thanked Govt for TET Resolution Assurance

Jammu/Srinagar, Sept 8: A virtual meeting of the Jammu & Kashmir Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum (JKRETTF) was held last night under the chairmanship of Forum Chairman Farooq Ahmed Tantray, in which UT executives and district presidents participated.

In a statement issued here, Chief Spokesperson with additional charge of General Secretary Muzafar Ahmad Wani said that the forum members welcomed the draft transfer policy issued by the Education Department after a nearly two-decade-long struggle by Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers.

During the meeting, members highlighted certain lacunae and concerns in the draft policy, particularly regarding transfers on marriage grounds, cadre-within-cadre issues and other service-related matters. They urged the leadership to place these concerns before the competent authorities.

Chairman Farooq Ahmed Tantray said that the department had opened the policy in the public domain for feedback, objections and suggestions, describing it as a welcome step. He appealed to teachers to submit their suggestions through the email address shared by the department, while assuring that JKRETTF would also collect suggestions from the ground and submit them to the concerned authorities.

Tantray said the transfer policy had remained a long-pending demand of RET teachers and its issuance was a significant development. He added that if there were any lacunae in the draft, they could now be removed or modified through constructive feedback.

The Chairman also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Education Minister Sakina Itoo for addressing the concerns of the teaching community, particularly the assurance regarding a resolution in the Assembly on the TET issue following the representations submitted by JKRETTF.
