A condolence meeting was held in pune by Kashmir Student Parliament in collaboration with a social organisation and other civil society members of pune. This meeting was held for the brutal assassination of renowed journalist of J&K Shujaat Bukhari. A huge number of civil society members and social activists attended the condolence meet. Meeting was presided over by Syed Fazal Kashani, a social activist and President of kashmir students parliament. Talking to the gathering, Kashani expressed deep grief and sorrow on the brutal killing of Shujaat Bukhari. While remembering Bukhari, he said that "Shujaat Bukhari was a strong and courageous writer of valley and workedo as an advocate of peace in J&K. He was a formidable figure of journalism in kashmir. Shujaat Bukhari was a ray of hope for peace process between India and Pakistan as he favoured dialogue between two countries along with the stakeholders of J&K. Syed Fazal highlighted Shujaat's contribution in uplifting the art, culture and language in valley. He said that this void created by his death cannot be filled and clearly indicate that his killers are the enemies of peace. Shujaat represented the sane voices of the state and also documented truth. Hi's connection with the younger generation was precious.He mentored a larfew number of youth and provided them a platform to express themselves. Syed said that Shujaat will always be an inspiration to a generation.
Talking on his demise, Allah ud din shaikh, a renowned social activist and state president Rashtra Seva Dal said that sane voices need to be raised on why courageous journalists like Gauri Lankesh and now Shujaat Bukhari are silenced. He also raised questions on security of journalists across nation. While paying tribute to shujaat bukhari, shaikh said that "one may kill the messenger but his message and mission for peace cannot be killed. Other renowed activists like Prashant Dandekar, Kamala Paigude, Vikas Kasate and Dutta shirke were also present in the meet. Candle light sit in and two minute silence was observed by the gathered people on the meet.
