News Report: Drug De-Addiction Awareness Programs Conducted Across Kashmir Division

Several drug de-addiction awareness programmes were conducted by S.R. Institute of Development (SRID) at different areas across the Kashmir Division with the aim of educating the youth and the general public about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of leading a healthy and drug-free life.

The programmes witnessed active participation from social workers, health experts, teachers, students, and members of civil society. During these awareness campaigns, speakers highlighted the growing menace of drug addiction in society and stressed the need for collective efforts to eradicate this social evil.

The organisers appealed to parents, educational institutions, religious scholars, and community leaders to play an active role in guiding the younger generation and protecting them from the dangers of substance abuse.

The participants were also informed about the importance of counselling, rehabilitation, and moral support for affected individuals to help them return to normal life and become responsible members of society.

The programmes concluded with a pledge by the participants to work together for creating a drug-free and healthy society across the Kashmir Valley.

S.R. Institute of Development (SRID) participated, upon the invitation of the J&K UT administration, in the Drug De-addiction Campaign. The LG-led anti-drug Padyatra started from TRC Football Stadium and proceeded to Lal Chowk, Srinagar, and was flagged off by the Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor of J&K UT. We are already working on this issue, and several programmes have been conducted in collaboration with different educational institutions. We are also planning to conduct programmes with religious preachers, social reformers, village heads, etc.
Now, it is the responsibility of all to work towards stopping the drug menace and to save our future generations from drug addiction. In the future, our programme will continue until this drug menace is eradicated.

SRID Organizes General Awareness Program in Barthana, Maiwa Mandi, Srinagar.

The S.R. Institute of Development (SRID) successfully held a general awareness program in Barthana, Maiwa Mandi, Srinagar. addressing vital social issues including women empowerment, disability rights, health, education, and other community concerns.
The event attracted significant participation from local residents, who brought forth various challenges faced by their communities. While several issues were addressed on-site, others were documented and will be forwarded to the relevant authorities for further action.
Participants expressed appreciation for the initiative's inclusive and solution-focused approach. The program concluded on a hopeful note, with SRID announcing its commitment to organize similar awareness campaigns in the future to foster ongoing social development in the region.

A delegation of sixteen members from AKHIL BHARAT RACHANATMAK SAMAJ (ABRS) a Gandhian Social organisation, headed by the National President Mr. Vibhuti Kumar Mishra of Akhil Bharat Rachanatmak Samaj (ABRS), embarked on the "Jai Jagat Karuna Yatra" (a journey of peace) from Uri to Kanyakumari. This initiative honors Kashmir, a place that will forever remember the sacrifices, love, and dedication of the late Didi Smt. Nirmala Deshpande Ji, who began her own journey of peace from Kashmir.
On July 21, 2025, the team arrived in Srinagar, Kashmir, in the late evening. The following day, July 22, 2025, the team, along with the J&K UT core group, traveled to Uri Kaman post to formally kick off the "Jai Jagat Karuna Yatra." On July 23, 2025, the team, in collaboration with the J&K core group of Akhil Bharat Rachanatmak Samaj (ABRS), met with several political party leaders and the Lieutenant Governor of J&K UT to discuss key and talks focus on the shared goals of promoting peace, fostering social harmony, and uplifting the community. From the next day, they will continue their journey of peace from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, carrying a message of love, prosperity, and brotherhood for all within India and beyond.
