The Special Olympics State Games 2025 successfully concluded at Youth Hostel & Khelgaon Nagrota, celebrating the incredible talent of persons with Intellectual Disabilities. Over 350 participants, including 106 Special Athletes, unified partners, educators, volunteers and parents, showcased their skills in Athletics, Bocce Ball and Unified Football. The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries who motivated and encouraged our athletes. Gold, Silver and Bronze medalists were honored, along with all participants, through a warm Tilak ceremony and salute by the Police Band. Cultural and musical performances added joy to the closing. A proud moment for SOB JKUT in promoting inclusion, sportsmanship and opportunities for every athlete. 🌟

✨ Youth Leadership Summit – Jammu Division 2025 ✨

An inspiring and empowering day at Army Public School, Kaluchak — the Nodal School for the event — where inclusion, leadership, and teamwork came together beautifully! 💫

Held on 18th October 2025, the summit brought together 10 Army Public Schools from across the Jammu Division under the banner of Special Olympics Bharat, fostering the true spirit of “Unified Leadership.” 🌈

DIG Shiv K.E Sharma today flagged off the contingent of Special Athletes from Special Olympics Bharat – Jammu & Kashmir UT for the National Championship of Bocce, scheduled to be held at Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh from 24th to 28th July 2025.

The athletes, filled with enthusiasm and determination, will proudly represent J&K UT at the national level. The flag-off ceremony was a moment of pride and motivation for the entire team, who are all set to showcase their abilities and spirit through sports.

Today, Special Olympics Bharat – Jammu successfully conducted health screenings at Mini Stadium Parade Ground, as part of the ongoing initiative supported by the NHPC Grant.

We are proud to share that over 110 athletes were screened under the Special Smiles discipline, marking a significant step toward ensuring brighter and healthier futures for our special athletes.

“*Special Athletes SOB JKUT PARTICIPATED IN DIVYA KALA MELA”*
The participation of Special Olympics Bharat JKUT athletes in Divya Kala Mela 2025 at Gulshan Ground, Police Line, Jammu organised by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Govt. Of India. SOB JKUT special athletes with intellectual disabilities participated in the Bocce competition and also stolen the show in cultural night, where they danced and showcased their incredible talent and abilities.

Gaurav Gupta calls on National President Special Olympics Bharat, in Delhi

Renowned sports enthusiast, barefoot marathon runner , and Secretary of Jammu Club, Gaurav Gupta, met with Mrs. Malika Nadda, National President of Special Olympics Bharat during a meeting in Delhi , following his installation as the President of Special Olympics Bharat (SOB) for the Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory (JKUT). The meeting was also attended by Dr. Ashwani Jojra, Founding President and current Area Director of SOB JKUT.
During the meeting, Gaurav Gupta laid out a comprehensive agenda focused on strengthening the Special Olympics movement across JKUT. He emphasized the importance of reaching out to underserved areas and communities to ensure the inclusion of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Gupta assured Mrs. Malika Nadda of his unwavering commitment to fulfilling the goals and vision of Special Olympics Bharat. He vowed to engage all sections of society and collaborate with like-minded organizations to provide a solid foundation for this noble mission. Highlighting the transformative power of sports, he expressed his determination to explore and nurture the hidden talents of persons with intellectual disabilities in the region.
“It is an honor and privilege for me to be part of such a global philanthropic movement, which operates in over 194 countries to enhance the dignity and lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities through sports. I am committed to working with zeal and devotion to achieve the set targets,” said Gaurav Gupta.
Mrs. Malika Nadda expressed her full support for advancing the SOB movement in JKUT. She acknowledged the significant potential within regions of challenging topography and high-altitude areas, urging sincere efforts to identify and harness the talent of special athletes.
“The Special Olympics movement is a voluntary mission, and everyone willing to serve individuals with intellectual disabilities is welcome to join. With focused efforts, we can unlock the immense potential in states like Jammu & Kashmir and transform the lives of countless individuals,” said Mrs. Malika Nadda.
