An important meeting of J&K General Line Teachers Forum Unit Baramulla was convened under the stewardship of Mr. Gulshan Ahmad Magray, provincial Vice-President, on Aug. 30, 2020 in which various issues pertaining the Education deparrment in general and in particular to General Line Teachers were discussed threadbare.
While addressing to the participants, Mr Gulshan Ahmad said that teachers do an invincible service to society and have always shown endurance to withstand the tests of the time. He said that the current situation has again put the teaching community in the same shoes and again the vibrant teaching community proved that they have yhe capability to do what seemingly is impossible. He said that reaching out to the students in the given situation is a challenging task but is the priority of General Line Teachers. He lauded the teaching community for exploring every possibility to reach out to the students at this crucial. The members present in the meeting echoed their support to the forum and all the child friendly policies of government and pinned hope that the recently approved National Education Policy 2020 will be implemented in letter and spirit with regard to foundational scheme and quality education. The VP directed all the members have to give their suggestions for effective implementation of the NEP-2020 on the MHRD website. The forum welcomed the setting up of SCERT in J&K and expressed hope that this will prove an important milestone in the quality education setup in the UT. The leadership urged the authorities to make the SCERT an institution par excellence by including meritorious GL teachers in curriculum revival, decision making, and policy formations to achieve goal of quality education in J&K.

Besides, the forum discussed many issues confronting the GLTs and appealed the authorities to resolve our genuine greviances of teachers on priority. The core issues among them are:
1. Revocation of GO 469-Edu of 2014 Dated 26-06-2014.
2. Transparent and a vibrant mechanism for transfer of teachers.
3. Smooth Processing of TBP cases to percolate down the benefits to beneficiaries in time bound manner.
4. Deputation of DRGs/ZRPs/CRPs on the basis of merit and proper selection procedure avoiding repetition.

Apart from chair and DP, the meeting was attended by Mr. Naseer Ahmad Khan, Mr. Mohammad Shahid, Mr. Mehrajuddin Bhat, Mr. Jameel Hussain Beig, Mr. Basharat Maqbool, Mr. Mehrajuddin Dar, Mr. Nawshad Ahmad, Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Baba, Mr. Sameer Ahmad among others and it ended with vote of thanks by District President, Mr. Mohammad Akram.

Meanwhile the Shopian unit of JKGLTF also convened an important meet of its office bearers in the premises of DIET Shopian. The important issues discussed in the meeting are:
1. Strengthening the forum at District and zonal level for which a comprehensive strategy has been devised by the forum leadership.
2. Awareness among General Line Teachers regarding the policies and programmes of the forum for the welfare of teaching and student community
3. Signing of sip forms.
3. Mobalization of human resource.
4. Reformation of zonal bodies.

A high level delegation of Jammu and Kashmir General Line Teachers' Forum led by Pro Vice President Mr. Gulshan Ahmad Magray met the Hon'ble Advisor Mr Khursheed Ahmad Ganie today in his Office Chamber to discuss the issues confronting the teaching community of the state. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Mohammad Akram Legal advisor, Mr Gowhar Ahmad Bhat treasurer, Mr. Mehraj u Din Bhat and Mr. Inayat.
The following issues were discussed with the Hon'ble advisor:
1. Need for measures to remove the stagnation in the department, viz; promotion of teachers as masters, Lab Assistants as teachers, etc.
2. Disparity in the pay of 2009 batch of teachers after their time bound promotion
3. Streamlinning of subject combination at +2 level.
4. Introduction of new subjects at +2 level
5. Uniform syllabi in Govt and Pvt. Schools of the state.
6. Benefits for teachers engaged for winter tutorial during 2016 and 2017
7. Issuance of appointment orders in favour of newly selected teachers....

The Hon'ble advisor gave a very patient hearing and promised that the demands put forth by the delegation would be taken on priority. He said that teacing is the noblest profession and that teachers are the builders of nation. He streesed on the delegation to use the available resources for the welfare of the students.

In an extra ordinary meeting chaired by Vice President, J&K GLTF, Mr. Gulshan A Magray at Baramulla, the issues pertaining to the teachers especially GLTs were discussed and the functioning of the organisation was reviewed. After threadbare delibrations, the following vital decisions have been taken for revival of the organisation at gross roots level in this district.

1. A District Level Task Force has been setup under the Patronage and Supreme Guidance of Worthy VP Mr. GA Magray sahab to strengthen the Forum at Zonal Level. The Team comprising of Muhammad Akram zone Baramulla, Farooq A Sheikh (Ex-DP) zone Chandanwari, Fayaz A Lone zone Tangmarg, Urfan Ahmad zone Sopore, Javid Ahmad zone Dangerpora, Naseer A Khan zone Boniyar, Jameel A Beigh zone Chandoosa, Mehrajuddin Bhat zone Singhpora Pattan, Sheikh A Fayaz zone Pattan, Parvaiz Ahmad zone Nehalpora, Gawhar Ahmad zone Kunzar, Mehrajuddin zone Sopore, Mehrajuddin zone Rohama, Shahid A Mir zone Fatehgarh, Zahid Ahmad zone Boniyar, Mir Aijaz Ahmad zone Baramulla besides others, who shall mobilize the teachers in their respective zones to broaden its base in the district. The team shall hold awareness campaign with regards the principles and objectives of the organisation among teachers for mass mobilization.

2. Mr. Muhammad Akram shall distribute the copy of Forum constitution among the Task Force Team to make it readily available to the common masses.

3. The team shall encourage the competent teachers to come forward and take the responsibility of Organisation in letter and spirit.

4. It has been decided that the Elections shall be held in each zone to elect the Zonal Presidents as envisaged in the Forum Constitution within three months for which the notification shall be issued after consulting the Supreme Council (core members).

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from Muhammad Akram.
