As Spiti Civil Society completes 10 years of dedicated social service in the valley, we are proud to begin a new chapter in our journey. With deep respect for our valley, its people, and its values, we are now committed to making Spiti a responsible and sustainable tourism destination—a model to be showcased on the global map.

Our vision is to ensure that Spiti receives the justice it deserves: preserving its fragile ecology and culture while offering travellers meaningful, quality experiences and authentic stays.

We extend heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported us since 2014–15. Your trust and encouragement continue to inspire us as we work towards building a brighter, more sustainable future for Spiti.

साथियों,

साल 2002 से हिमाचल प्रदेश में सरकारी भूमि पर कब्जों से जुड़ा मामला माननीय उच्च न्यायालय में लंबित था। वर्तमान बेंच ने हाल ही में आदेश जारी करते हुए सरकारी भूमि पर काबिज लोगों को हटाने का निर्देश दिया है और हिमाचल प्रदेश भूमि राजस्व अधिनियम की धारा 163A को असंवैधानिक घोषित कर दिया है।

इस फैसले के बाद पूरे राज्य में वर्षों से काबिज लोगों को बेदखल करने की कार्रवाई तेज़ हो सकती है।

इस संदर्भ में *वन अधिकार अधिनियम, 2006 (FRA)* की स्थिति और प्रावधानों को समझने के लिए हम 13 अगस्त 2025 को शाम 6 बजे से एक ऑनलाइन बैठक आयोजित कर रहे हैं, जिसमें क़ानूनी जटिलताओं और सवालों पर चर्चा होगी।

वन अधिकार कानून, 2006: अब समय है अपने हक को जानने और पाने का!

हम, हिमधरा पर्यावरण समूह, पिछले एक दशक से हिमाचल प्रदेश में वन अधिकार कानून (FRA) के क्रियान्वयन को लेकर सक्रिय हैं।

प्रदेश के कई संगठनों की मांगों को हाल ही में राज्य सरकार ने गंभीरता से लिया है।
इसी दिशा में हम FRA सूचना केंद्र शुरू कर रहे हैं, जहाँ से आप
◆ वन अधिकार कानून, 2006 के बारे में समग्र जानकारी प्राप्त कर सकते हैं
◆ अपने अधिकारों को समझ कर दावा करने की प्रक्रिया जान सकते हैं
◆ ज़मीनी अनुभवों के माध्यम से मार्गदर्शन पा सकते हैं

यह केंद्र विशेष रूप से हिमाचल प्रदेश के वनाश्रित समुदायों के लिए है।

On April 1, 2025, Lahaul-Spiti MLA Ms. Anuradha Rana handed over forest rights certificates to 42 individuals in Spiti Tehsil. This marks the first time that rights for residence and cultivation have been granted in Spiti Valley under the Forest Rights Act, 2006.

*Spiti Civil Society (Kaza)* extends heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Tribal Minister Shri Jagat Singh Negi, MLA Ms. Anuradha Rana, all members of the district and sub-divisional level committees, and supporting organizations, including the Himdhara Environment Research and Action Collective, for making this possible.

We congratulate all the claimants and hope for swift action on the remaining individual and community claims to ensure the protection of forest rights for the people of Spiti!
