Exploration of the Hirpora Lakes (1st August 2025)
On 1st August 2025, our outdoor adventure team set out to explore the Hirpora Lakes. We began our trek at 9:00 AM from Dongi Marg, walking alongside the Jadi Nar stream. As we progressed, we reached near Nandan Sar and turned left towards Chandan Sar, crossing a mountain along the way. After reaching Chandan Sar, we continued our journey, crossing a mountain pass to arrive at Laksukh Sar and Handu Sar, where we set up our camp for the night.
The next day, we visited Sonsar and Barani Sar. From there, we crossed the Handu Gali (mountain pass) to reach Bhag Sar. Our journey then continued towards Sanam Sar. To get there, we crossed the Rupri Gali and visited Sanan Sar. From Sanan Sar, we proceeded to Chambara Sar. However, after reaching Chambara Sar, we faced bad weather conditions. We were supposed to cross another mountain to reach Diya Sar, but due to heavy weather, we had to abandon that plan. Instead, we descended and visited Padasar.
It rained continuously for about three hours, but we kept moving despite the downpour. We headed towards another pass known as Rupri Gali, which connects to the Dhakiar side. Upon crossing this pass, we saw Naija Sar and then Beliyaan Sar. Due to the worsening weather, we couldn't visit Dakiya Sar, so we descended and saw the second Beliyaan Sar on the way. From there, we moved left towards a route that eventually connects to Hadusar. By 8:00 PM, we returned to our base camp at Handu Sar and spent the night there.
The following day, we began our return journey. We first headed back to Lakshak Sar, then to Chandan Sar, and from there crossed the Barhal Pass to reach Katori Sar. After crossing another mountain pass, we arrived at Gumsar, from where we had distant views of Neel Sar and Ding Sar.And we saw around 9 to 10 water bodies in Hirpora region , which were very large
Continuing our journey, we moved towards Kaldachni Sar. As we reached the top of the pass, we got a clear view of both Kaldachni Sar and Nandan Sar. We then descended to Nandan Sar, where we had lunch around 2:00 PM. Finally, we hiked back to Dhongi Marg, where our vehicles were parked.
This trek is not as easy as it seems, but the members showed great courage. As difficult as it was, they completed the trek with equal ease. The route involves crossing many dangerous ridges that are at great heights, but the team used their experience and determination to complete the trek successfully.
I would especially like to thank our core members — Mr. Tariq Hakim, Mr. Sheikh Bashir, Mr. Owais Ahmad Sofi, and Mr. Mudasir Maqsood Bhat — who made this trek easier for everyone. This is not just our happiness, but a shared joy for all of us.
