Chitkara School of Pharmacy, Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh in collaboration with Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) successfully organized a Hands-on Workshop on Innovative Instrumental Insights: Practical Training and Skill Development from 6th-7th August, 2026. The hands-on workshop on innovative instrumental insights provided participants with practical exposure to modern instruments, analytical techniques, and technology-driven problem-solving. Dr. Naresh Rangra with his team led the workshop through demonstrations, guided experiments, and hands-on practice and participants learned instrument handling, calibration, data interpretation, troubleshooting, and application of results. The innovative examples included using IoT-enabled sensors for real-time environmental monitoring, portable analytical devices for rapid sample testing, and digital instruments for automated data collection and analysis. The participants also explored the potential of instrumentation to improve accuracy, efficiency, and decision-making in research and industry. The workshop strengthened technical competence, experimental confidence, and innovation skills while encouraging participants to develop practical solutions using emerging technologies. Overall, the training enhanced employability, research capabilities, and readiness for technology-driven professional environments.

Chitkara School of Pharmacy, Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh in collaboration with Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) successfully organized a Mentoring Session on Lean Start-up & MVP as part of IIC Calender activity on 29th July, 2026. The mentoring programme was organized to help aspiring entrepreneurs transform ideas into market-ready products. The session was conducted by Dr. Vivek Puri focusing on problem identification, customer validation, business models, prototyping, and MVP development. Participants worked in teams and received guidance from mentor through mini-workshop, practical exercise, and review session. As an outcome, three MVPs were successfully developed, with teams progressing towards market entry. For example, one team developed a basic food-delivery platform and tested it with local customers, while another created an educational-learning prototype and collected user feedback. The programme strengthened entrepreneurial skills, encouraged experimentation, and supported teams in validating their ideas before scaling.

Chitkara University College of Nursing under the aegis of IIC organized an engaging expert session on Digital Therapeutics on 7th August 2026 for B.Sc. Nursing students, focusing on the role of technology in modern, evidence-based healthcare. Ms. Aameen Khanna, Clinical Psychologist, oriented students on mental health and contemporary psychological concerns. Further, Ms. Aakanksha Sankhyan, Assistant Professor, introduced students to Digital Therapeutics and digital health tools such as Wysa, Headspace, Calm, MindPeers, YourDOST, Tele-MANAS, AI chatbots, telehealth platforms, and wearable technologies, highlighting their applications and feasibility in healthcare. Selected students also received one-on-one mentoring for their innovative healthcare ideas, including guidance on patent pathways, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

The workshop on highlighted cutting-edge advances in pharmaceutical sciences with a strong emphasis on innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology translation. Experts discussed novel drug formulations, nanotechnology-based delivery systems, and sustainable packaging solutions that improve product stability, patient compliance, and environmental sustainability. Innovative examples included smart pharmaceutical packaging with QR-code-enabled traceability, temperature-sensitive indicators for vaccine safety, biodegradable polymer packaging, antimicrobial active packaging, and child-resistant yet senior-friendly designs. The sessions encouraged participants to transform laboratory research into commercially viable healthcare products through interdisciplinary collaboration, intellectual property awareness, and startup-driven innovation.

The Chitkara Alumni Association Network (CAAN), in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organized an insightful session titled “Media Creativity and Innovation: Driving the Success of JioStar’s Business” on 1st August 2026 at Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh. The session featured Ms. Sahiba Madaan, Manager – Ad Sales at JioStar India and a distinguished alumna of the 2008 CSE batch, as the resource person. The event aimed to inspire students by showcasing how creativity, innovation, and technology are transforming the modern media landscape.

Chitkara University, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), successfully hosted an engaging online session on “Accelerators/Incubation – Opportunities for Students and Faculties” on 28 July 2026.

The session was led by Mr. Manohar Lal, CEO, EPIC TBI, and witnessed the enthusiastic participation of more than 200 students. It offered valuable insights into the startup ecosystem, clearly explaining the role and differences between incubators and accelerators.

He addressed important entrepreneurial questions related to idea validation, prototype development, customer discovery, funding, bootstrapping, investor expectations, and equity. The discussion helped participants better understand the practical steps required to transform an innovative idea into a sustainable venture.

The session also highlighted various grants and funding opportunities available to early-stage startups, guiding students and faculty members on accessing financial support to develop, validate, and scale their ventures.

Overall, the event strengthened entrepreneurial awareness among participants and encouraged them to explore innovation, startup opportunities, and institutional support systems with greater confidence.

Chitkara University, in collaboration with the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), under the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell (MIC), AICTE, organized the MIC-Driven Activity on "Funding Opportunities for Biotech Innovations in HEIs: BIRAC Schemes" on 24th July 2026. Ms. Salvarani and Dr. Dipan Sahu introduced about the history of BIRAC and linkage of biotechnology with other disciplines. Then, Ms. Salvarani introduced the expert of the session Ms. Taranjeet Kaur, by her role in initiating women entrepreneurship globally and various feats she achieved in Europe and Atlanta.
Ms. Taranjeet Kaur started her session with the theme of funding opportunities for biotech entrepreneurs. She threw some light on the history of BIRAC and how it cam into existence and its objectives. She said that BIRAC provides funding support for taking an idea from lab to market. She discussed about various schemes of BIRAC, such as, BIG (upto 50 Lakh), SPIR, BIPP, P*P (Project Commercialisation program) etc. She discussed about the whole journey of an innovative idea up to its development as a product. She discussed about various funding opportunities starting from fellowship grant E-Yuva (15 lakhs) to AcE (700Lakhs). She said that they have supported more than 5000 entrepreneurs from which more than 300 startups have generated Rs. 10,000Cr revenue. She detailed about the incubation centers funded by BIRAC. She discussed about the eligibility and funding opportunities for students and entrepreneurs from Tier II/III cities. She gave a detailed description of BIRAC’s flagship scheme BIG. She detailed about the Make in India center run by BIRAC and GLOBALBIOINDIA event organised at global scale by BIRAC. She described each and every funding scheme and eligibility criteria of every scheme of BIRAC in detail. The session was knowledgeable for Pharmacy students of the university.
