RACE for green

RACE for green Founded in Suri, Birbhum (W.B), RACE builds on the concept that taking up responsibility is the key Since then, RACE has taken up even more ambitious projects.

RACE has been registered in July 2011 under West Bengal Societies Registration Act 1961. The initiative began in June 2010 when Biswajit Majumder started mobilizing local students, teachers and concerned citizens for the cause of a better, greener and cleaner environment in his hometown, Suri (Birbhum, West Bengal). The mobilization was for plantation of 200 saplings in a central park area in the

township (which is called Irrigation Colony) and the event was considered a very successful citizens' initiative for positive social change. The event captured the imagination of the local citizens and was highly covered by press. The volunteer group have worked on large scale plantation and awareness rallies etc. RACE has also hosted multiple debate/quiz events with local students/citizens in order to create sensitization of the global and local environmental issues.
