Today, our day started early at 6 AM as around 50 enthusiastic birdwatchers gathered at Nanaksagar Dam's wetlands for an exciting birdwatching session. We spotted around 95 bird species! 🦜🌊

We also welcomed students and teachers from Himalayan Inter College, Chaukori, Pithoragarh, for a visit to our school. Their presence added more energy and diversity to our discussions.

The day was all about sustainability, learning, and collaboration! It began with preparations for upcoming eco-friendly sessions, setting the stage for impactful discussions.

The first session welcomed participants from different schools, introducing the Wipro Earthian Program and its core themes: Waste, Water, and Biodiversity. Engaging discussions answered key questions about how this initiative works and its role in fostering environmental awareness.

After a short break, we delved deeper into the 'Waste' theme, exploring actions needed to make a difference. Next came the 'Biodiversity' session, highlighting the importance of preserving ecosystems.

Lunch was more than just a meal – it was a heartwarming moment of sharing and bonding. Post-lunch, we explored the 'Water' theme, understanding its significance in sustainability.

The final session focused on plastic and health, shedding light on how plastic has become an inseparable part of daily life and its adverse effects.

To conclude, Soumya Ma’am introduced the past two years' Wipro Earthian National Award-winning team, who shared their inspiring experiences, motivating everyone to take meaningful action.

This day was a powerful reminder that small actions can lead to significant change! 🌱💙

Home to a diverse range of species, including deer, leopards, nilgai, ostriches, crocodiles, turtles, snakes, and vibrant birds, the zoo provides a safe and natural habitat while promoting wildlife conservation and education.

Our visit to the zoo was truly an amazing experience! From the majestic leopards to the graceful deer and colorful birds, every moment was fascinating.

The day was truly a unique day! From NSI, we went straight to Satpal Singh Gandhi Ji’s house, and the experience of going there was completely new. As soon as we reached his gate, we saw a bicycle-themed gate—it was so different and interesting gate made by Satpal Ji itself. The whole atmosphere of the place felt unique right from the entrance.

The first thing we noticed after entering his house was a special bird-watching book. He had created it himself, collecting all the pictures he had taken. Each page had a new bird, a new moment—but the interesting part was that he hadn’t written much detail, just pictures. It felt like he wanted the viewer to imagine and feel the moment on their own.

As we moved further inside, we noticed that every corner of his house was filled with creativity and sustainability. He also had a huge collection of coins and stamps. There were so many old and unique coins that we were completely amazed. The stamps were also remarkable—it felt like a piece of world history was gathered in one place.

Having lunch was also a special experience because we all sat together and enjoyed the food prepared by his wife. After lunch, he showed us a small garden that he had designed himself. Despite its small size, it had a natural beauty that was worth admiring.

We also saw his special room, where he had carefully preserved his old bottles and various creative items. The best moment came when he made a piggy bank out of a glass bottle right in front of us for us. It was such a creative idea that I had never imagined something so simple could turn into something so useful.

Yesterday, we went to Green Lawn School in Jaitanwala to conduct a session on sustainable menstruation for students of grade 10. It was an exciting experience as we interacted with new girls and shared our personal journeys and knowledge about menstrual health and sustainability.

The session began with a discussion on plastic and its harmful effects on our bodies and the environment. Soumya mam started the explanation about how regular sanitary pads contain plastic and chemicals that can be harmful to health and also contribute to pollution in our surroundings.

After the introduction, all the girls were divided into smaller groups of 4 to 5 members. This made it easier for everyone to interact and ask questions without hesitation freely. In these groups, we explained the use of sustainable menstrual products like menstrual cups and cloth pads. We showed them how these products work, how they are used, and why they are better than regular sanitary pads. The students had many doubts and questions, and we answered them one by one.

One of the best things about this session was the response from the students. Before coming to the school, we thought they might laugh or feel shy while talking about menstruation because they just got into grade 10th from 9th. However, they were very serious and mature about the topic. They listened carefully, asked questions, and showed a keen interest in learning. It was amazing to see their willingness to understand and accept new ideas on such topics.

Talking to the students and seeing their positive response made the whole experience truly special for us. The student's curiosity and their eagerness to learn gave us confidence that the message of sustainable menstruation will spread further.

Today's session was a success. It was not just about sharing knowledge but also about creating a space where all the people could freely talk about menstruation without fear or embarrassment. We hope that they will take this knowledge forward, talk to their friends and family, and make informed choices about their menstrual health.

Today, the Do No Trash community organized the third annual Basant Utsav at Gurudwara Sahib Rajpur, Dehradun, focusing on sustainability and environmental conservation. The Nature Science Initiative (NSI) participated by setting up an educational stall to raise awareness about nature conservation and the importance of protecting the environment.

The event featured a range of interactive workshops. A session on Sustainable Menstruation introduced participants to eco-friendly menstrual products, while a Bioenzyme workshop demonstrated how to create natural cleaning solutions using citrus peels. Workshops on Composting and Eco-bricks provided practical insights into waste recycling and reducing our carbon footprint.

Engaging with community members was a highlight, allowing us to exchange ideas and discuss key sustainability topics with like-minded individuals. A Nukkad Natak (street play) delivered a powerful message on the importance of saving trees and protecting nature, leaving a lasting impact on the audience.

The event concluded with a community langar, where volunteers came together to prepare and share a meal, fostering a sense of unity and collective purpose.

Basant Utsav 2025 was a meaningful and inspiring gathering, bringing people together to learn, share, and take action for a greener future.
