Meet the stunning bird of South and Southeast Asia! With its unique crest of curled feathers and long, racket-shaped tail, this beauty is a sight to behold. These elegant flyers are not just about looks; their tail feathers help them change direction swiftly in the air! You can find them in forests, woodlands, and open areas, often mingling with other birds in mixed-species flocks. Their diet is primarily insect-based - think beetles, grasshoppers, and dragonflies; though they also enjoy the occasional berry! Plus, they're incredible mimics, capable of imitating the sounds of other birds and even human noises like whistles and car alarms! Breeding season runs from April to August in India, with mothers typically laying 3-4 eggs. These birds are fiercely protective of their young, often taking on larger birds like raptors to defend their nests!
