๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’ง 4,000+ Farm Ponds โ€“ Creating Water Security, One Farm at a Time! ๐Ÿ’ง๐ŸŒฟ

Water conservation is the foundation of sustainable agriculture and climate resilience. With the active participation of rural communities and the generous support of our partners, MANUVIKASA has successfully developed more than 4,000 farm ponds across Karnataka, transforming the lives of thousands of farming families.

This milestone has been achieved with the support of HDB Financial Services, CMS Info Systems, Azim Premji Foundation, EdelGive Foundation, Deshpande Foundation, YES BANK Foundation, and GiveIndia, along with contributions from local communities and convergence with government programmes.

What makes this initiative truly sustainable is the strong community ownership. Farmers contribute 30% to 70% of the total project cost through labour, machinery, transportation of excavated soil, and other local resources, ensuring long-term maintenance and sustainability.

๐ŸŒฑ Impact Highlights

๐Ÿ’ง 4,000+ farm ponds created across rural Karnataka
๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐ŸŒพ Thousands of small and marginal farmers benefited

Empowering Women Through Skills and Self-Reliance

MANUVIKASA has proudly started a self-funded Dress Designing, Dress Making, and Aari Work Training Centre to equip rural women with market-oriented skills that create sustainable livelihoods and financial independence.

The training programme offers hands-on instruction in:

Dress Designing
Dress Cutting and Stitching
Aari Embroidery Work
Hand Embroidery and Decorative Work
Fashion Designing Basics
Blouse Designing and Tailoring
Fabric Selection and Pattern Making
Finishing and Quality Control
Basic Entrepreneurship and Business Management
Marketing and Customer Service

These practical skills will enable women to start their own tailoring and embroidery units, undertake customized orders, establish boutique businesses, or secure employment in the garment and fashion industry. The programme is designed to enhance creativity, build confidence, and create sustainable income opportunities for women from Self-Help Groups and rural communities.

We sincerely thank EdelGive Foundation for providing the initial infrastructure support that helped establish this training centre. Their valuable support has created a strong foundation for empowering women through skill development and entrepreneurship.

At MANUVIKASA, we believe that when a woman gains a skill, she gains confidence, financial independence, and the ability to transform her family's future. We remain committed to creating more opportunities that empower rural women and promote inclusive, sustainable development.

Together, we are stitching dreams, designing futures, and creating livelihoodsโ€”one woman at a time.

๐Ÿ” Small Birds, Big Dreams! ๐Ÿ’š

Every backyard can become a source of income, nutrition, and empowerment.

Through its Backyard Poultry Development Programme, MANUVIKASA is supporting rural women Self-Help Group (SHG) members by providing poultry birds, technical guidance, and capacity building to establish sustainable backyard poultry units.

๐Ÿฃ How it transforms lives:

๐Ÿ’ฐ Generates regular supplementary income through the sale of eggs and birds.
๐Ÿฅš Improves household nutrition with fresh, protein-rich eggs.
๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŒพ Empowers rural women with a low-investment, high-return livelihood.
๐ŸŒพ Integrates with farming by converting poultry waste into organic manure.
๐Ÿก Creates self-employment opportunities at the household level.
๐Ÿ“ˆ Reduces financial vulnerability and strengthens family resilience.
๐Ÿค Encourages women-led entrepreneurship through SHGs.

For many rural families, a few poultry birds are not just livestockโ€”they are a pathway to economic independence, better nutrition, and a brighter future.

Together, we are helping women build sustainable livelihoods, one backyard at a time.

๐Ÿฏ Sweet Livelihoods, Stronger Women, Sustainable Forest Communities ๐ŸŒฟ

At MANUVIKASA, we believe that empowering rural women with sustainable livelihoods creates lasting change. Through our Self-Help Groups (SHGs), including women from Siddi tribal communities, we are promoting beekeeping (honey cultivation) as a low-investment, eco-friendly income-generating activity.

๐Ÿ Beekeeping provides rural womenโ€”especially those living in forest areasโ€”with a reliable source of supplementary income while creating opportunities for self-employment close to their homes. It also supports biodiversity through pollination, contributing to healthier forests and improved agricultural productivity.

Through this initiative, MANUVIKASA:

๐Ÿฏ Provides practical training on scientific beekeeping.
๐Ÿ“ฆ Supports women with bee boxes and healthy bee colonies.
๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Offers handholding support for installation and management.
๐Ÿค Facilitates market linkages to help women sell quality honey at better prices.
๐Ÿ’ฐ Encourages community ownership by collecting a small beneficiary contribution, ensuring commitment and long-term sustainability.

For many women, a single bee box is more than a livelihood assetโ€”it is a step towards financial independence, confidence, and a brighter future for their families.

Together, we are creating sustainable livelihoods while conserving natureโ€”one bee box at a time. ๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿ
