Can’t believe it’s been 6 months since we found this poor boy in the most deplorable state 😞

It was the peak of summer in Goa — Shambhu was starving, dehydrated, and had collapsed into a 6-ft deep hole.

Team (WAG) Welfare For Animals in Goa rushed to his rescue and gently nursed him back to health under the able care of Dipankar 🐶💪

This Diwali, as we light our homes with diyas, let’s also light up the lives of those who have no home — the animals who depend on us for love and care. 🐾💫

At Welfare for Animals in Goa, we’re currently home to over 200 rescued animals — dogs, cats, cows, goats, chickens, rabbits & more. Many of them are old, sick, or abandoned, and need constant care, food, and medicine.

Our small team of just 15 staff and a handful of volunteers works tirelessly every single day to make sure every animal feels safe and loved. 🧡

THE BOOK OF DOG!

This beautiful Book , by Harper Collins, would make a lovely Diwali /Christmas Gift, with lots of heartwarming Essays by lots of Dog Lovers.
This incudes our Founder, Atuls Story , of what ( or who) inspired him to start WAG.
All proceeds go towards Animal Charities in India.

Available at our "Retro Shop" , which is now open at the WAG Shelter in Siolim. We have some unusual gifts, as well as plants, artwork , quilts and much much more !

OUR " OLD DOGS RETIREMENT HOME"... Is up and running.
Sadly, older street dogs , find it very difficult to survive the streets, as they have to find food, and shelter, which is a challenge, even for the younger dogs.

Thanks to all our supporters , we have set up a home for older dogs, who would have not survived.

Our latest one being Luna , a beautiful old Boxer, who had been dumped on the streets . She was in a terrible state, but after we rescued her, she is happy at her new home , and enjoying all the love and attention she deserves .

It’s International Dog Day! 🐶

Imagine being hungry, hurt, and unwanted… yet still wagging your tail hoping someone cares.

That’s the reality for thousands of stray dogs in Goa. Every day, they fight for survival—alone, invisible, forgotten.

At Welfare for Animals in Goa (WAG), we refuse to look away. For 20+ years, we have been rescuing dogs from roadsides, treating their wounds, feeding the hungry, and giving them a second chance at life. 🐾✨

But here’s the truth: we do it with NO government support.

Please come in large numbers.

It’s an opportunity for us to ask the Govt for more sterilization, 24X7 ambulance for strays and other things for animal welfare. We are not out of the woods. Supreme Court final judgement can easily be reversed in 2 years if Governments across India don't act to do sterilizations and problem persist! Let's not get complacent!

Request everyone to bring with them family members/friends. Posters have been made and will be given to you at the location. No speeches. Peaceful gathering asking the Government to act on Sterilization on war footing. We are expecting good media presence so a larger crowd will send a strong message to the Government to act!

We went out and rescued them.
Not because it was easy — but because it was necessary. 💔

Every dog you see in this video was suffering alone:
Hit by vehicles, attacked by other animals, eaten by maggots, or abandoned when they needed help the most.

We found them. We chased them. We carried them.
Now they’re safe at WAG — healing, day by day.

But rescue doesn’t end at the pickup.
We need funds for surgeries, medicine, food, vet care, and more — for over 180 animals currently at our sanctuary.
