Today, 5 September 2026, we are delighted to invite you to experience “Being a Forest,” an exhibition of contemporary visual art presented by BIG I Art Foundation, Siliguri, and curated by Dipayon Ghosh and Samba Prasad Biswas. Bringing together the works of Dipayon Ghosh, Mrinmoy Karmakar, Samba Prasad Biswas, Sunil Shirodkar, and Subhra Kumar Banerjee, the exhibition explores the forest not merely as a landscape, but as a living space of memory, ecology, identity, and interconnectedness. The exhibition was inaugurated on 5 September 2026 at 5:00 p.m. by Prof. Dr. Paula Sengupta, artist, academician, curator and Head of the Department of Graphics and Printmaking at Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, alongside Partha Pratim Deb, contemporary visual artist from Kolkata, and Shri Anjan Sen, prominent Bengali postmodern poet, essayist and art writer based in Kolkata. On view from 5–10 September 2026, Being a Forest offers an evocative encounter with diverse contemporary artistic practices and invites us to reflect on our relationship with nature and the world around us. BIG I ART FOUNDATION, SILIGURI, is delighted to present the RBM Curator Award 2026, instituted in memory of the legendary Indian artist Ramkinkar Baij, to Ayan Mukherjee, Kolkata, in recognition of his contribution to contemporary curatorial practice. The award was presented on 5th September 2026 at A.M Studio, Kolkata, celebrating a significant curatorial voice and his engagement with the evolving landscape of contemporary art. The RBM Curator Award honours the spirit of critical thought, creative dialogue, and artistic exploration that continues to shape Indian contemporary art, while paying tribute to the enduring legacy and fearless vision of Ramkinkar Baij.

আজ থেকে শুরু হলো প্রস্তুতিপর্ব, আগামী ৫ সেপ্টেম্বর ২০২৬, বিকেল ৫টা থেকে কলকাতার A.m Multidisciplinary Art Studio শুরু হচ্ছে BIG I Art Foundation, Siliguri-এর কিউরেটেড আর্ট এক্সিবিশন ‘Being a Forest’। এই প্রদর্শনীতে অংশ নিচ্ছেন দীপায়ন ঘোষ, মৃন্ময় কর্মকার, শাম্ব প্রসাদ বিশ্বাস, সুনীল শিরোদকর ও শুভ্র কুমার বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। প্রদর্শনীর উদ্বোধন করবেন অধ্যাপক ড. পলা সেনগুপ্ত, ড. তপস কুমার চট্টোপাধ্যায় এবং বিশিষ্ট কবি, প্রাবন্ধিক ও শিল্প-লেখক শ্রী অঞ্জন সেন। ‘Being a Forest’ প্রদর্শনী দেখার জন্য সকল দর্শককে সাদর আমন্ত্রণ।

আজ সন্ধ্যায় সাতদিন নিউজ-এর উদ্যোগে উত্তরবঙ্গের শিল্প ও সংস্কৃতি নিয়ে এক আন্তরিক ও গুরুত্বপূর্ণ আলোচনা সভায় অংশ নেওয়ার সুযোগ হলো। উত্তরবঙ্গের বিভিন্ন প্রান্তের শিল্পীদের উপস্থিতিতে ছোট্ট এই আয়োজনটি হয়ে উঠেছিল প্রাণবন্ত ও অর্থবহ।

উপস্থিত ছিলেন জলপাইগুড়ি ও শিলিগুড়ির বিশিষ্ট শিল্পীরা

BIG I ART FOUNDATION, SILIGURI proudly presents Patron Art Award 4.0 (2026–2027) and invites applications from contemporary visual artists across all disciplines, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, installation, mixed media, video art, and sound art. Institution-affiliated artists are also welcome to apply. The award is open to artists up to 42 years of age. Applicants are required to submit 10 contemporary artworks, along with detailed images, an artist bio-data/CV, and an artist statement via email [email protected], mentioning in sub: "Patron Art Award 4.0". One selected artist will be awarded a curated solo exhibition by Ayan Mukherjee at A.M. Art Multidisciplinary, Kolkata. The last date for submission is 19th August 2026.
