Appeal for Support – Art Gallery Construction
BIG I ART FOUNDATION, Siliguri, has been organizing art exhibitions and cultural programs across North Bengal for the past eight years. Due to the lack of a permanent venue, we are now developing our own art gallery (approx. 1,500 sq. ft.) at Baghajatin Park, Siliguri.
Basic structure is ready, but we need support for interior work, seating, office setup, signage, and essential art exhibition display equipment, light setup etc.
We aim to raise approximately five lakh rupees through crowdfunding. Your contribution will help create a dedicated space for artists and cultural activities in North Bengal.

■ অঙ্কন শিক্ষকদের স্বীকৃতি: প্রয়োজনীয়তা, বাস্তবতা ও ভবিষ্যৎ দিশা

বর্তমান সমাজব্যবস্থায় অঙ্কন শিক্ষকদের ভূমিকা অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ হলেও তাঁদের প্রাপ্য স্বীকৃতি প্রায় অনুপস্থিত। বিদ্যালয়ের প্রথাগত বিষয়গুলির তুলনায় চিত্রাঙ্কন বা সৃজনশীল শিক্ষাকে অনেক সময় “অতিরিক্ত” বা “অপ্রয়োজনীয়” হিসেবে দেখা হয়। এর ফলে অঙ্কন শিক্ষকরা তাঁদের দক্ষতা ও পরিশ্রমের যথাযথ মূল্যায়ন পান না, যা তাঁদের পেশাগত মর্যাদাকে ক্রমশ ক্ষুণ্ণ করে।

এই স্বীকৃতির অভাবের একটি বড় কারণ হলো সামাজিক দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি। অভিভাবক ও সমাজের একটি বড় অংশ এখনও মনে করেন যে অঙ্কন শেখা শুধুমাত্র একটি শখ, যা জীবিকার সঙ্গে সরাসরি যুক্ত নয়। কিন্তু বাস্তবে চিত্রকলার মাধ্যমে একজন শিক্ষার্থীর সৃজনশীলতা, কল্পনাশক্তি, মানসিক বিকাশ এবং পর্যবেক্ষণ ক্ষমতা উল্লেখযোগ্যভাবে বৃদ্ধি পায়। আজকের দিনে ডিজাইন, অ্যানিমেশন, ফাইন আর্টস, গ্রাফিক্স—এই সমস্ত ক্ষেত্রেই অঙ্কনের গুরুত্ব অপরিসীম। তাই অঙ্কন শিক্ষকদের অবদান উপেক্ষা করা মানে ভবিষ্যতের সৃজনশীল প্রজন্মকে উপেক্ষা করা।

অন্যদিকে, অধিকাংশ অঙ্কন শিক্ষক প্রাইভেট টিউশন বা ছোট ব্যাচের মাধ্যমে শিক্ষাদান করেন, যা অনেক সময় কোনো প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক বা আইনি কাঠামোর মধ্যে পড়ে না। ফলে তাঁদের কাজের বৈধতা প্রশ্নবিদ্ধ হয়ে পড়ে। এই পরিস্থিতি থেকে উত্তরণের জন্য ট্রেড লাইসেন্স গ্রহণ, উপযুক্ত রসিদ প্রদান এবং একটি নির্দিষ্ট পরিচয়পত্র ব্যবহার অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পদক্ষেপ হতে পারে। এর মাধ্যমে তাঁদের পরিষেবাকে একটি বৈধ ও সংগঠিত রূপ দেওয়া সম্ভব, যা সমাজের কাছে তাঁদের গ্রহণযোগ্যতা বাড়াবে।

এছাড়া, স্বীকৃতির অভাব শিক্ষকদের আত্মবিশ্বাসেও প্রভাব ফেলে। যখন একটি পেশা সামাজিকভাবে সম্মান পায় না, তখন সেই পেশায় নিযুক্ত ব্যক্তিরা অনেক সময় নিজেকে অবমূল্যায়িত মনে করেন। কিন্তু যদি তাঁদের কাজের যথাযথ স্বীকৃতি ও কাঠামো থাকে, তাহলে তাঁরা আরও উৎসাহ নিয়ে কাজ করতে পারবেন এবং শিক্ষার্থীদের আরও ভালোভাবে গড়ে তুলতে সক্ষম হবেন।

সমাজে অঙ্কন শিক্ষকদের স্বীকৃতি বাড়ানো শুধু তাঁদের ব্যক্তিগত উন্নতির জন্য নয়, বরং সামগ্রিক সাংস্কৃতিক বিকাশের জন্যও অত্যন্ত জরুরি। একটি সমাজ তখনই উন্নত হয়, যখন সেখানে বিজ্ঞান, সাহিত্য এবং শিল্প—সব ক্ষেত্রেই সমান গুরুত্ব দেওয়া হয়। অঙ্কন শিক্ষকেরা এই শিল্পচর্চার ধারাকে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যান, যা একটি সুস্থ ও সৃজনশীল সমাজ গঠনে সহায়ক।

সুতরাং, অঙ্কন শিক্ষকদের কাজের বৈধতা প্রদান, প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক স্বীকৃতি এবং সামাজিক মর্যাদা বৃদ্ধি করা সময়ের দাবি। এতে শুধু শিক্ষকদেরই নয়, ভবিষ্যৎ প্রজন্ম এবং পুরো সমাজই উপকৃত হবে।

The exhibition is open to all visual art categories, including:
Painting, Drawing, Printmaking, Mixed Media, Installation, Textile Art, Digital Image, and New Media.

(All artwork selection and display decisions will be made solely by the curator.)

Entry Fees:

Students (Ages 14–20): ₹1200/-
Senior Participants: ₹1600/-
(2 artworks).

Artwork Requirement:

Only original works Maximum size: 30" × 36" inches.
Artwork Submission Deadline: within 16th may 2026.
