"My humanity is bound up in yours,
for we can only be human together".

In a world rushing ahead,

we are slowly forgetting how to pause for each other.
A little more listening,
a little more kindness,
a little more seeing the person beyond the opinion-
that’s where our humanity lives.

A Panel Discussion on Respectful Disagreement

An afternoon of listening, reflecting, and learning in partnership with Salesian (Autonomous) College, Sonada.
The conversation brought together voices from different fields, each offering a thoughtful lens on how disagreement—when held with dignity and empathy—can become a bridge in a conflict-torn world.
Dr Alisha Chettri spoke about the psychological importance of respectful disagreement—from our tendency to conform to practical ways of disagreeing with care.
Mr Vikram Rai reflected on the role of media in shaping healthier conversations, the pressures of narrative-building across political lines, and why free thinking and media ethics are more important than ever.
Dr Binayak Sundas shared how fear of disagreement often leads to pseudo-narratives, while history shows us that communities have long thrived amidst diverse voices and differences.
Fr. Dr C. J. Mathew offered a philosophical perspective, drawing from history to the present, on how we engage with differing views.
The session was thoughtfully and dynamically steered by moderator Mrs Anuradha Sharma, who kept the conversation open, balanced, and engaging—with just the right touch of humour.
It was heartening to have students, educators, and members of civil society in the room. The Q&A added further depth and richness to the discussion.
Grateful to Salesian (Autonomous) College, Sonada for hosting us so warmly and to everyone who showed up with openness. Grateful to friends - Mashquraah Fareedi, Vivek Rai, Sraddha Chettri for your presence.

A small step, perhaps—but an important one towards building a culture where we can disagree without losing respect.

On 17th October 2025, after a detailed survey and consultation with the Local Disaster Management Committee, Chhimeki facilitated a partnership to support families affected by the recent flash flood in Seyok.

Partner Contributions

Partner Organisations: Provided steel almirahs and complete sets of utensils to the affected families.

Chhimeki: Provided gas cylinders generously donated by several well-wishers.

In total, seven families received these essential materials to assist in their rehabilitation process.

A special shoutout to Dr. Bhauk Sinha, Trustee - Chhimeki and his family for helping us raise funds — and a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to make this effort possible.

We feel privileged to join hands with other NGOs and voluntary organisations working tirelessly to rebuild lives and restore hope in Seyok and elsewhere. The villagers expressed heartfelt appreciation for the support extended to them.

The experience was deeply meaningful for our team — a reminder that rebuilding is always a shared journey of kindness and compassion. 💛
