Ensuring a To***co-Free Educational Environment in Cachar
Today, on behalf of Barak Valley Welfare Development Society (NGO), Cachar, Silchar, our team conducted visits to several educational institutions, including *Itkhola Hindi Patshala,9 No Ganiwala JB School,Malugram Girls High School,Cachar High School,Tarapur Girls High School,ShyamaCharan Dev Vidyapith,Niranjan Paul Institute,M.M Balika Vidyaniketan High School,Netaji Vidya Bhawan Girls HS School. This initiative aimed to assess the implementation of the To***co-Free Educational Institution (ToFEI) guidelines across public and private schools in Cachar District, Assam, under the National To***co Control Program (NTCP), with the support of District Health Society and National Health Mission, Cachar.
Key actions taken during the visit:
✅ Enforced the ban on the sale of to***co products within 100 yards of school premises, in accordance with COTPA Act & ToFEI guidelines.
✅ Promoted a "To***co-Free Zone" in educational institutions.
✅ Activated multiple educational institutions for ToFEI implementation.
✅ Oriented school teachers, education department officials, School Management Committee members, and other stakeholders on ToFEI indicators.
