“Nivedita Nari Sangshta” was founded by Mrs Diba Roy, a social worker and a philanthropist, in the year 1996 with a mission and a vision for uplifting the social status of women and children in Barak Valley of Assam. Since the time of its inception till date, the organisation has engaged itself in many programs and schemes with the support of Government agencies and local administration. The programmes and schemes which the organisation has been part of till date has benefited many downtrodden and marginalized population of lower Assam, in the field of Education, Health, Women empowerment and nutritional needs of Lactating Women and Children. The Organisation is registered as a non – profit society, having registration number RS/CA/243/43 of 1997-98, under the Societies Registration Act of 1860.

Today as we celebrate the auspicious day of Rakhsabandhan , our children got an opportunity to spend a whole day with the Srikona BN of Assam Ri**es Indian Army along with our care givers and project management staff . Where they have tied Rakhi and seek blessing from our Soldiers with a promise of protection and support. We are thankful to the Commanding officer and whole Battalion of Assam ri**es for arranging a special event for our children to this day.

Today our employees of CCI and SAA along with the management handed over a small contribution towards Assam flood relief through Sivsagar Dist child protection unit. During these
time of such uncertainty and hardship this small contribution of cash donation and flood relief essentials will help 53 children residing in different shelter homes under the protection of DCPU of flood affected districts.

Awareness Program Alert ! Legal Adoption

Date: 9 July 2026
Venue: Lakhipur development block
Fulertal, Cachar, Assam

A Community Awareness Programme on Legal Adoption was successfully organised by
Nivedita Nari Sangstha at the Lakhipur Development Block with the objective of
spreading awareness about the legal adoption process, preventing illegal adoption, and
strengthening child protection at the community level. Around 100 participants, including ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and members of various Self-Help Groups (SHGs),actively attended the programme.

On 21st June 2026, International Yoga Day was celebrated at the campus under the instructions of PT teacher Ms. Arbina Laskar, who conducted different yoga activities. Children practiced different Asanas and yoga postures. To create awareness about yoga, a quiz competition and a poster-making competition were also organised.

A one-day district-level consultation meet was organised by NNS with stakeholders regarding aftercare services for female care leavers within the organisation who have completed 18 years, and further rehabilitation initiatives for them. The consultation focused on the significance of aftercare, skill-building, rehabilitation, and independent living. The conversation reaffirmed the necessity of continued support systems for youth aged 18 years and older moving from the foster care system to succeed in becoming confident, independent, and self-sufficient individual of their communities.

The major agenda covered under the consultation were:

1. Understanding the provisions of aftercare and identifying who is eligible for the program.

2. Introducing care leavers and their transition from Child Care Institutions (CCIs) to aftercare, including group living, life skills development, and sustainable and independent living.

3. Discussing the challenges in implementing the program successfully and outlining the roadmap ahead.

4. Seeking collaboration among the private sector, public sector, and government to strengthen the program, with a focus on enhancing the future employability and financial empowerment of care leavers.

We extend our gratitude to all the speakers from cross institutions and child protection offices who became part of the consultation meet , and shared their views, that includes members of CWC Cachar, Asst LADC District Legal Services, Statistics Department Assam University Silchar, District Child Protection Unit Cachar, Childline. The recent batch of interns were given the opportunity to spread awareness among school children about POCSO and other child-related abuse prevalent in society. Students from different schools participated, and the administration granted the interns from NNS permission to lead the awareness, followed by assuring mandatory reporting of school administration on any form of abuse on children, including flagging abuse and explicit pornography-related content by any adults. They also assured that all schools have their POCSO policies in place, a complaint box for anonymous complaints by students, and display of the 1098 child helpline. We thank all the schools that participated in the first phase of awareness with NNS.

The Assam University Computer Science Department, along with The Spine Foundation, Mumbai, led by Dr. Shekhar Bhojraj, organised a year-long skill programme for our children residing in CCI. The training aimed to upskill their computer proficiency and employability opportunities. The training was guided by staff under Dr. Vivek Verma of the Assam University Computer Science Department.

The felicitation event was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including Vice Chancellor Rajive Mohan Pant, Registrar Pradosh Kiran Nath, and Joint Director of Health Services, Cachar, Sumona Naidin, among others.
