A male Aceros nipalensis (Rufous-necked hornbill) perched on a fruiting tree cherry-picking fruits. Canopy perch also act as vantage points to look for predators or hunters (humans). We have nine species of hornbills in India and five of them are found in the northeast. Namdapha National Park and Tiger Reserve is one such place (maybe the only one) where all five co-occur..... Can anyone identify the perching tree?
