Kohinoor, a diamond, is the UK's crown jewel. Now it is being exhibited along with other royal jewellery at Tower of London.
Kohinoor means a 'mountain of light'. That diamond is the biggest and brightest in the world. Its weight is about 105.6 karats. Its value has not been estimated until now.
Since ancient times, India has been known for its invaluable diamonds. 'Golconda' region was famous for diamond mining. Kohinoor diamond too has been mined from here. Due to its priceless quality, it has changed hands and moved among the countries during the wars and finally became the property of British Royals.
