Nazareth Hospital Workers Union(NHWU) is the official registered workers union of the Nazareth Hospital, Laitumkhrah Shillong. It bears the Registration No 152 Dated 16/11/2015. NHWU was founded to :
1. To organize the various workers working in Nazareth Hospital and coordinate their activities and To foster unity and co- operation amongst its, members.
2. To protect and promote livelihood and e
mployment of workers working in Nazareth Hospital.
3. To remove the grievances of the workers engaged in different departments/branches of the hospitals and to protect them from exploitation by their respective managements.
4. To strive for better facilities of work and for better living conditions.
5. To secure living wage for every member in normal employment and to bring about a progressive improvement in the standard of living of each member.
6. To disseminate successful organizing strategies among workers of Nazareth Hospital.
7. To advocate the rights and legal aid of workers and to forge linkages with worker’s movements and organisations for the benefits of workers in policy making, law making and other activities.
8. To provide legal rights and legal aid to the workers working in Nazareth Hospital and to advocate institution of policies and laws favorable to workers working in Nazareth Hospital.
9. To obtain for members various measures of social security including adequate provisions in respect of accidents, maternity, sickness, old age and unemployment.
10. To secure redress from injustice in the matter of discharge, dismissal, retrenchment, suspension, stoppage of increment, etc.
11. To establish harmonious relations amongst the members and try to settle disputes between the members and the management by mutual agreements, if possible.
12. To raise the standard of efficiency and discipline in member.
13. To make the workers conscious of their rights and duties and to infuse the spirit of good citizenship in them.
14. To try to help members during legal strikes or other emergencies.
15. To safeguard the members from all sorts of exploitation,
injustice and disgrace.
16. To raise the standard of efficiency and discipline in member.
17. Generally to do such acts as may be necessary or conducive to the attainment of the above aims and objects.
18. To promote child development and child care for workers working in Nazareth Hospital
19. To sensitize concerned officials and departments and citizen groups on the issues of workers working in Nazareth Hospital.
20. To enforce regulations and promote self-governance amongst workers working in Nazareth Hospital.
21. To print newsletter / magazine / documents / pamphlets / posters and other audio-video materials for the purpose of creating awareness among workers working in Nazareth Hospital and society.
22. To promote any other activity for betterment of workers working in Nazareth Hospital and their families. NHWU....together for a better tomorrow
