Ka Pla is a Socio, Economic, Political, Environment, Sports cm Cultural Organisation (Ka Pla) was established in 16th October 2007 . Ka PLA since itβs inception has been taking several initiatives to create awareness to voice against environmental degradation and raising social consciousness on various socio-economic and environment problems. Ka Pla is created:
Clause (a): To infuse and induce
the spirit of unity, fraternity, co-operation and patriotism among Indians in general and among the citizens of Meghalaya in particular. Clause (b): To generate awareness, educate and enlighten people on various issues concerning the need to preserve our environment, cleanliness, health etc, and especially to educate people of the harm of using plastic bags and similar non-degradable materials which affect negatively our environment and the climate and thus dim the prospects of our future generation. Clause (c): To extend help and aid and to garner assistance for the victims of natural calamities like floods, cyclones, earthquakes, fire, etc, and to set up relief camps for them. Clause (d): To promote, exploit and expose the rich traditional cultures of our state of Meghalaya and other states as well, through various programmes. Clause (e): To promote and support sports and games among the members of the cub and to train, coach and exploit the sporting skills and talents of the budding boys and girls of our state at all levels of each and every game. Sports like football, cricket, badminton, Table tennis, chess and swimming, will receive top priority by the club. Clause (f): To promote and extend support to the economic activities of the people of Meghalaya, especially for the poor and needy and the under-privileged people irrespective of caste, creed, s*x or religion and to help them generate income through self-employment for their self-dependency. Clause (g): To create awareness and provide facilities to people through various campaigns and programmes on epidemics, pandemics and health issues like HIV and AIDS, various flues and fever, Tuberculosis etc, and to educate people on alcoholism and drug abuse. Clause (h): To recognize and evaluate the status of women in our matriarchal society and to protect them against exploitation and to fight and curb human trafficking etc.
