NESFAS

NESFAS We're a grassroots non-profit organisation dedicated to revitalising, safeguarding, and promoting Indigenous Peoples’ Food Systems (IPFS) in North East India.

The mission of NESFAS is to connect people to the importance of agrobiodiversity and the pleasures of tasty, local food. It is a platform where indigenous peoples can voice their opinions, exchange knowledge between traditional practices and science and reaffirm pride in their local food systems. NESFAS believes that food, when responsibly produced, protects the environment, enhances our health a

nd well being and highlights the role of women as custodians of our agrobiodiversity and our food ways. NESFAS therefore envisions a future where our food systems are defined by a strong bond between people, planet, plate and culture. NESFAS, which is chaired by Mr. Phrang Roy, emerged as the outcome of the collaborative efforts between the Indigenous Partnership for Agrobiodiversity and Food Sovereignty, Rome and Slow Food International. It is increasingly connecting many local and international partners interested in agroecological practices.
