Voluntary Health Association of Meghalaya - VHAM VHAM was formed on September 16, 1974 and was registered under the Societies Act, 1860.

VHAM observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26th June 2026 in collaboration with student interns from Shillong Commerce College, Synod College, Sankardev College, and Nabon College.

The programme aimed to raise awareness, promote compassion, and encourage community support for individuals affected by substance use.

A short speech on the theme “To Err is Human” highlighted that making mistakes is part of human nature and emphasized the importance of understanding, empathy, rehabilitation, and providing individuals with opportunities to rebuild their lives.

To encourage participation and strengthen rapport among beneficiaries, several recreational activities were organized, including Balloon Cracker (for both male and female injecting drug users), Chinese Whisper, and Musical Chair. The games created a lively atmosphere, promoted teamwork, and fostered positive interaction.

A big step forward for community healthcare.

Jatah PHC has received a new ambulance to further strengthen emergency services across the villages under its care. This achievement was made possible through the collective advocacy of the Rangbah Shnong from all 18 villages, and the ambulance was inaugurated by Shri.Banteidor Lyngdoh, MLA Mawkynrew.

Provided under the SRWP scheme (29 Mawkynrew Constituency), this is more than a vehicle, it’s faster response, safer referrals, and stronger support for families.

As shared by Mayfereen Ryntathiang, Executive Director (VHAM), this ambulance is a right of the people, meant to serve the public, and it belongs to everyone, not any one individual.

On the 30th of January, we hosted a Community Football Match, in collaboration with MEDUNET. It was more than just a game.
