In her sharing, she also spoke about the Catholic Jubilee 2025, which is a special time for forgiveness & renewal, themed "Pilgrims of Hope," which began on 24-Dec-2024 & concludes on 06-Jan-2026. The YWCA of Secunderabad celebrated Children's Day with the children attending the Balwadi at our Bolarum Community on 14-Nov-2025.

This Balwadi Project wax started to promote early education in the community & to provide free education to the under privileged children who are below the age of 3 years & not yet in the school system. As part of the project, we provide free education to the beginners & teach life skill education, fostering learning, communication & social skills, proper nutrition & cultivating good habits.

One of the goals is to see the children are integrated into the regular school system. To achieve this, we provide need-based counselling & guidance to the families to ensure every child goes to school as education is every child’s basic right.

Members, Iona Dimney, Sandra Jacob & Maria Xavier accompanied the Projects Team of Sr. Sahaye, D. Rani & Amuliya Boya, for this year’s Children's Day programme.

Soundarya welcomed the audience. We conducted 3 games for the children. Prizes were awarded to the winners.

Basthi leaders, Mr. Balraju & Mr. Sudershan, were also present. Mr. Sudershan appreciated the work being done in the community - especially mentioning regarding the Balwadi children that they are narrating stories & conversing in English. He also sang a song in remembrance of our recently deceased General Secretary, Sharon Solomon.

The National Youth Conclave at YMCA Campsite, Nilshi — a vibrant gathering of young women from YWCAs all over India!
It was held from November 6th to 9th, wherein two youth were delegates.

The event, hosted by YWCA of India, revolved around the theme “Young Women as Climate Advocates: From Commitment to Action.” Through thought-provoking sessions & talks, the conclave explored how climate justice is deeply connected to gender equality and why women must be part of decision-making in addressing climate change.

Amuliya Leena Boya, our Youth Coordinator, presented The ReWoven Project as part of the Global Youth Mobilization initiative (GYM) — a youth-led effort that has grown into a meaningful movement for sustainability and empowerment.

Beyond the sessions, the conclave also offered adventure & bonding through rock climbing, kayaking, archery & bonfire nights — a perfect blend of learning, laughter & leadership! A truly memorable experience that strengthened our commitment to building a more sustainable & equal future.

We held a Memorial on 25-Oct-2025 for our Late General Secretary, Mrs. Sharon Solomon, at our Centre.

After an opening prayer, by Dr. Sheba Victor & Bible readings by Prof. Rachel Jesudasan & Khursheed Neal, the staff & members shared their memories & many touching glimpses of who Sharon was. It was a befitting closure & farewell to a dynamic brave woman who inspired many with the choice she made. Neomi Francis was the MC. Priti Papali said the closing prayer.

We thank the gathering of 80 who comprised members, staff, beneficiaries, well-wishers & those associated with our Association for making time to be at the Memorial & sharing in our grief.
