Ved Vihar, AWHO Colony is located ¡n the heart of Secunderabad
Cantt, next to MCEME “B” Mess, on LaI Bazar-Military Farms Road. The colony is so named ¡n memory of Lt Col Ved Prakash Ghai, Maha
Vir Chakra (Posthumous) of 16 Madras Regiment. Maj Gen MML
Sharma, the then, MD AWHO laid the foundation stone for the
Colony on 19 Jan 1994. Subsequently Maj Gen Mohan singh, MD
AWHO, laid the foundation s

tone on 17 Sep 2004 for the
accommodation constructed in Phase IV and V thereby completing
the entire project of Ved Vihar. Ved Vihar Colony was registered as ARMY WELFARE MUTUALLY
AIDED COOPERATIVE MAINTENANCE HOUSING SOCIETY with
the Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Ranga Reddy District Vide
Regn No AMC/RR/DCO/44/99 dated 13 Aug 1999 and is generally
denoted asAWMACMHS in short. The colony became an award winning colony when it was awarded
the second prize in North Zone of Greater Hyderabad Municipal
Corporation Competition on 08 Dec 2011 by Mayor Ms B Karthika
Reddy and GHMC Commissioner Mr T Krishna Babu, lAS in which a
total of 135 had colonies participated. Location
Ved Vihar Colony is situated in Svy Nos 353,354,355 and 356 of
Alwal Village and consists of an area of 20 Acres. Out of this 20
Acres, Approx 4.325 acres in Svy No 353 falls under Secunderabad
Canif and the balance 15.675 acres in Svy Nos 354,355,356 fall
under GHMC, Alwal Division. The colony is 7 KMs away (approx) from Secunderabad Railway
Station and 40 KMs from Hyderabad Inter National Airport. The
Military Hospital & ECHS are located within 4 KM distance. Similarly
the RSI and Secunderabad Clubs are only 5 KMs away from the
colony. Details
This Colony is Designed for a Total of 602 Dwelling Units as under:
(a) 35 Duplex Houses I (b) 60 Deluxe Flats. (c) 399 Economy Flats

(d) to 8 Utility Flats
The Colony has both borewell and civil potable water supply
facilities. The Power Supply is ensured by a separate dedicated line
from AP Transco. The colony has a Sewage treatment plant located
within its premises to dispose off the sewage. Amenities
Being an army colony, it's sad to see the colony Authorize timings over most of it's amenities,,
not condone sports activities and prioritise the sleep/rest time of the retired residents over maintenance of it's recreational activities. Most of these recreational "amenities" are maintained by the people who utilise them, not the society, because they're not interested,
We invest heavily in sitting benches around the colony for the aging residents who DONT WALK, and usually don't leave their homes. 10 Benches per 1 resident, and still we continue to install rather than take care of the "amenities". The Colony has a Walkers Path duly marked covering around a
distance of 1.70 Kms, Gymnasium fitted with new equipments for the

overall health benefits( which is run by a resident, not by the colony, as the management isn't incentivised to do anything about it), Table Tennis Room/Hobby Centre (this is just fabrication),
Cemented Basket Ball Ground(quite horrible, lot of people injured due to the ground, backboards recently changed since 2012, players/residents take care of the court more than the management, timings authorised as well, no lights to play after dark so that the aging residents sleep, completely nullifying the point of the court), Volley Ball (fabrication, doesn't exist)and Badminton court (Sunday convention center as well, nets are taken down timely because retired officers don't condone sports)
Proposal is in the pipe line to make Badminton Courts and children
(Tiny-Tots) play ground also. There is also a Shopping Complex
and a Community Hall with a furnished guest room. The residents
and others make use of this facility for Birthday / Anniversary /
Marriage and other functions as the facility is made at affordable
rates. The entire area is bounded by high boundary walls with gates
which are manned by Security Guards to ensure safety and security
to the colony residents. The colony has green cover with a number of grown up row of
flowering trees,bushes,lawns and gardens with benches giving a
clean environment and serene atmosphere. Management
The Ved Vihar Colony is managed by an elected body of President,
Gen Secy and seven Directors whose services are gratuitous. The
first Managing Committee during March1998, was formed under the
Presidentship of AVM (Retd) M Sadanand, AVSM. The Management
is dedicated towards efficient functioning and has a resident friendly
approach.
