In Rondha Village, Salekasa (Maharashtra), farmers once relied on uncertain rainfall and expensive diesel pumps to irrigate their fields. High costs and limited access to water restricted agricultural productivity and opportunities.

Today, a Solar-Powered Lift Irrigation System is transforming lives and livelihoods.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Irrigation coverage expanded from 15 acres to 28 acres
๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐ŸŒพ Beneficiary farmers increased from 8 to 15
โ›ฝ 100% elimination of diesel costs
๐ŸŒพ Cultivation enabled across Kharif, Rabi, and Summer seasons
๐Ÿค Operations and maintenance entrusted to the Gram Panchayat, ensuring long-term sustainability and community ownership.

Supported by HDFC Bank Parivartan and implemented by Centre for World Solidarity (CWS), this initiative demonstrates how clean energy and water access can build resilient farming communities and create a sustainable future.

Today, on World Environment Day, communities across multiple project locations came together to celebrate and reaffirm their commitment to protecting nature and building a sustainable future.

In Jharkhand, villages including Laukesara and Burudih witnessed active participation from Panchayat representatives, village leaders, frontline workers, adolescents, women's groups, youth groups, and community members. Discussions focused on environmental conservation, the importance of maintaining a green environment, and collective responsibility towards protecting natural resources. Community members took pledges to plant and nurture trees, maintain cleanliness, and contribute to a healthier environment for future generations.

A unique highlight in Burudih was the symbolic tying of Raksha Sutra to trees in the forest, signifying a collective promise to protect and preserve nature. Fruit-bearing saplings were also planted at key community institutions such as health centres, Anganwadi centres, and community spaces.

Similar celebrations were held in the project villages of Araku and Dumbriguda in Andhra Pradesh, where elected representatives, community members, adolescents, and children actively participated in environmental awareness and plantation activities.

These collective actions remind us that environmental stewardship begins at the community level. Together, we can nurture a greener, cleaner, and more resilient future.

From promoting climate-resilient agriculture and nutrition-sensitive farming to conserving natural resources and strengthening local livelihoods, CWS works with communities to build a sustainable future for people and the planet.

This World Environment Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to protecting nature, strengthening food systems, and creating resilient communities for generations to come.

Every conversation started, every voice raised, and every community engaged brings us one step closer to a healthier, more informed, and more equitable future.

Over the past weeks, communities, adolescents, women, frontline workers, and local leaders came together to learn, share, and take action for better health and well-being.

As this campaign comes to a close, the journey continues. Together, we will continue to foster awareness, encourage positive behaviour change, and build healthier communities for all.

Thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and made this campaign meaningful.

Menstruation is natural โ€” but stigma, silence, and lack of awareness still affect millions of girls and women every day.

This Menstrual Hygiene Day, ASW and Centre for World Solidarity (CWS) stand together to promote dignity, awareness, health, and equal access for all. Through community engagement, awareness activities, conversations, and collective action, we aim to break myths, challenge taboos, and create supportive spaces where every girl and woman feels informed, safe, and respected.

From schools and communities to public spaces, we believe menstrual health is not just a hygiene issue โ€” it is linked with dignity, education, nutrition, accessibility, and human rights.

Together, let us create period-positive communities and keep the conversation going beyond just one day.
Solidarische Welt

Today, the Change Maker Girls from Devarakonda visited Nalgonda for an exposure visit as part of their leadership development journey. During the interaction, the girls confidently shared with District Collector Shri Chandrashekar Sir the challenges they face while approaching Childline, especially in child marriage cases.

The Collector immediately addressed the concerns with the Childline team and requested a detailed report on the issues raised.

Officials and representatives from RJD, DWO, CWC, DCPO, Red Cross Society, Sakhi, Bharosa, and SHE Teams also participated in the programme.

The girls further visited the Collectorate, WCD Office, Childline, DCPO Office, CWC Office, and Sakhi & Bharosa Centres to better understand support systems and governance mechanisms.

Empowering girls to speak up and lead the change.
