A group of 15 students from Classes 11 and 12 (Arts) took part in a field documentation exercise at the grasslands near Dhonk. This experiential learning activity was designed to give students first-hand exposure to ecological studies and the significance of grassland biodiversity.

We are deeply grateful to our resource persons, Mr. Sonu Kumar (District Coordinator, Kota, Biodiversity Research Development Society) and Mr. Om Prakash Bairwa (Biologist, SCHER Kota), for guiding the students. They introduced the fundamentals of grassland survey techniques, explained why such documentation is vital for conservation, and trained the students to observe and record with scientific accuracy.

During the session, the students successfully documented 10 species of grasses and enhanced their understanding of plant morphology by studying structures such as nodes, internodes, spikelets, and inflorescences. The activity not only enriched their academic knowledge but also inspired them to appreciate the critical role of grasslands in maintaining ecological balance.
