The latest edition of Arthart, Takshila’s biannual art journal edited by Zeenat Nagree, designed by Matter, and published by Arthshila Trust, is now available on Amazon India. (LINK IN BIO)

This special issue is dedicated to K. G. Subramanyan and features writings by R. Siva Kumar, Geeta Kapur, Soumik Nandy Majumdar, Nancy Adajania, Indrapramit Roy, Sanchayan Ghosh, Nilima Sheikh, and Sheela Gowda.

November opened with Duniya Parchhaiyon Ki, an exhibition exploring the elusive aura of Hindi cinema and its lingering traces in everyday life — a show that continued through the month. Fantasies of Freedom saw Seema Chishti and Ankur Bhardwaj reflect on India’s modern history through iconic film songs. Cinephilia brought students together for a dynamic walkthrough and discussion, culminating in a screening of Teesri Manzil (1966). Project Azadi created a powerful evening of solidarity with Palestine, uniting poetry, music, and collective resolve. Closing the month, Emergence of Music Directors in India offered rare insight into the evolution of Indian film music through archival recordings and historical research.

November at Arthshila Santiniketan unfolded through powerful performances, thoughtful conversations, and hands-on workshops. Vhay, I am Savitribai Phule honoured a legacy of courage and education. Sangaman 26 gathered eminent Hindi writers to reflect on creative dilemmas and artistic conflict. Screenings such as Dance of Joy celebrated Tagore’s vision of movement and learning, while workshops like Textile as Sculpture and How to Photograph a City opened new ways of working with material and the urban gaze. Book discussions on Saptadash Katha and Panchatantra invited younger audiences into worlds of timeless wisdom and tactile storytelling. Closing the month, the exhibition Keys to the Past: The Story of the Typewriter in India explored the machine that reshaped imagination, expression, and work.

Throwback | November 2025 at Arthshila Goa

November brought an engaging month of screenings, conversations, music, and a closing exhibition. At Home in Goa opened reflections on belonging and heritage through The Memory Keepers and Future Seekers. Films like Sultana’s Dream, Janani’s Juliet, A Thin Wall, and Coral Woman sparked dialogues on feminist futures, caste and honour, memory and Partition, and environmental activism. Woh Subah Kabhi to Aayegi resonated with voices of struggle and solidarity, while Auscultations: False Clouds and Real Deluges examined water as history and urgency. Closing the month, Tangible Mosaic celebrated material-led inquiry and artistic research through the Takshila Fine Arts Fellowship.

Throwback | November 2025 at Arthshila Ahmedabad

November unfolded through gatherings filled with storytelling, music, film, and thoughtful dialogue. Children built memory boxes with Priya Narayanan in Yasmin’s Box of Memories. Reading the House opened conversations on Ahmedabad’s domestic histories as part of The Ahmedabad Collective. Cathy Sweeney shared her writing journey in an intimate evening of readings and questions. Woh Subah Kabhi to Aayegi filled the space with songs of struggle and hope. Audiences travelled through feminist futures in Sultana’s Dream, and explored gendered experiences in the Imprints Travelling Programme. Films like Earth Witness and Behind the Tin Sheets deepened reflections on climate, labour, and resilience. Closing the month, The Drifting Guitar and Lola and the Sound Piano offered tender stories shaped by sound and friendship.

The current exhibition Shifting Identities continued to unfold parallel conversations on craft, memory, and women’s lived histories across shifting borders.

October at Arthshila Delhi was a cinematic journey through shadows, stories, and screens. Duniya Parchhaiyon Ki, curated by Ashish Rajadhyaksha and featuring works from the Takshila Art Collection, continued to draw audiences into the luminous world of Hindi cinema.
The month unfolded with special screenings in collaboration with NFAI — Sautela Bhai and Evening in Paris, celebrating Guru Dutt’s haunting artistry and the timeless romance of 1960s Bollywood. The premiere of Dastan-e-Guru Dutt by Mahmood Farooqui added another dimension, blending dastangoi with the poetry and pathos of Bombay’s golden era.

Allen Shaw, the artist behind Hobo’s Lullaby took audiences on a visual journey where sketches became stories, tracing lines of travel, memory, and imagination.

Throwback | October 2025 at Arthshila Goa

October at Arthshila Goa was a month of dialogue, discovery, and creative reflection. The exhibition Tangible Mosaic showcased six artists from the Takshila Fine Arts Fellowship 2024, exploring memory and material under the guidance of mentors Archana Hande and Sambhavi Singh. Screenings of Akashpradeep and Seedlings brought intimate narratives of displacement and resilience, while Matisse from MoMA and Tate Modern offered rare glimpses into the artist’s life and process. The month concluded with Imprints returning to Arthshila Goa, featuring Umbro by Prachee Bajania and Pari by Priya Sen—an evening of powerful storytelling and exchange.
