What does a day at Arthshila Ahmedabad look like?

People moving through the space at their own pace. Pages turning in the collection spaces. Conversations taking shape around a table or in a quiet corner. Time spent with films, periodicals, exhibitions, and ideas.

Throughout the day, Arthshila Ahmedabad becomes a site of curiosity, reflection, and exchange. Visitors arrive with different interests and leave having encountered something unexpected/new.

No two visits are quite the same, but each becomes part of the rhythm of the space.

What should a cultural space listen to? Who does it serve? How does it grow with the people around it?

These were some of the questions that shaped Arthshila’s recent **Open House** sessions in Santiniketan, Ahmedabad, and Goa. The gatherings brought together artists, audiences, collaborators, educators, and members of the wider community for conversations around Arthshila’s work, its possibilities, and its role within the arts ecosystem.

The sessions allowed us to hear directly from those who engage with our spaces: what draws them in, what they value, what they hope to see more of, and where we can do better. From accessibility and arts education to the need for dialogue across different practices, the conversations opened up many important directions for the future.

We thank everyone who joined us with their thoughts, questions, and suggestions. These exchanges help us look at our work with greater care, and we look forward to building more meaningful connections with the arts and culture community.

May at Arthshila brought together conversations, performances, screenings, workshops, and spaces of collective reflection across our centres.

While Arthshila Patna and Santiniketan hosted a range of public programmes, Ahmedabad and Goa spent the month in internal discussions, assessments, and planning, shaping the work that will unfold in the coming months. Arthshila Delhi, meanwhile, is preparing for another major exhibition.
