Few in number, these schools suffer from funds crunch, lack of assistance from the government and public sectors, and public ignorance. Shortage of infrastructure, poor levels of teacher training, high student to teacher ratio, unsanitary environment, absence of modern teaching tools and inadequate computer literacy leave a glaring gap between the resources available in urban and rural establishme
nts. This is best understood by people who rise out of adversities and transform their lives through education. This project is an endeavor to pass on what they were lucky enough to achieve. Located in village Risti, district Saidpur, 40 km from Varanasi a school is to be revamped with a noble goal to provide equal learning opportunities to the students of the village. The promoters of the school studied from the same village school and have served as senior government and private sector officials. Now after their retirement, they plan to provide a platform to the kids of the village and the nearby villages so that such success stories grow each year. They are striving to expedite rural development by transforming the thought process of the next generation using high quality education standards and extracurricular activities for overall personality development. provides primary education till standard 5 and there are no other good schools in the vicinity of approximately 10 km. The focus is on developing the school so that the students have access to a high level of education closer home, saving their time and effort. It would be a five-day week school with a day dedicated to extra-curricular activities such as arts and sports. There will be a fun hour of story-telling and watching videos each day from Monday to Thursday. Each child will be encouraged to learn a musical instrument or a dance form, and also a sport. There will be scaling up on the teaching and learning resources and basic infrastructure. Currently, the school implements Jurassic educational methods which would be replaced by modern learning tools and techniques such as toys, games, videos and movies. English will be used as the medium of communication. Computer education, which does not currently exist in the school, will be introduced from the nursery level. There will be periodical health checkups for the pupils. And since ignorance is the primary root cause, there will be a monthly meeting with parents to update them on the kid’s progress and make them aware of the importance of an overall education system.
