Gudigars Gudigars are a small community that traditionally depended upon fine arts for making a living. I. The present president of ABGS is Harish L Shetty from Kumta.

Gudigars are a micro minority that has depended mainly upon fine arts for making a living, while spreading its glory across the world due to the contributions in the field of fine arts. A recent estimate puts the total population at about 3000 (i) making us one of the smallest minority community. Traditionally the spread of the people has mainly been in coastal Karnataka, Sagar, Sorab in Shimoga d

istrict, in some parts of Goa and Sawantwadi in Maharashtra. Later migration for jobs has made the cities of Bangalore and Mumbai to have more families of Gudigars comparatively. The Gudigars who were originally in Goa and Sawantwadi are called Chitaris. Akhila Bharat Gudigar Samaj, popularly known as A.B.G.S, was founded in early 196s by the leaders of Gudigar community from different areas under the presidentship of S Devappa of Sagar. This was formed with the aim of upliftment of the community people in the field of art and education. The executive body was re-registered on 21st July 1997 under the Societies Registration Act 1960. It is a Non-Profit Non-Government Organization (NGO) working relentlessly since its inception for the welfare of the society, in general, and the Gudigar Community, in particular.

We regret to convey the news of passing away of Smt Vanita, w/o Shreekant C Shetty in Bangalore this evening. She was 89 years old. Our condolences with the family and prayers to the departed soul. Om shanti 🙏💐 Cremation will be held at Harishchandra Ghat, Devayya Park tomorrow at 10 am.

ಶ್ರೀಕಾಂತ್ ಸಿ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಅವರ ಧರ್ಮಪತ್ನಿ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ವನಿತಾ ಅವರು ಇಂದು ಸಂಜೆ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಧನರಾದ ಸುದ್ದಿಯನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಲು ನಾವು ವಿಷಾದಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಅವರಿಗೆ 89 ವರ್ಷ ವಯಸ್ಸಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಕುಟುಂಬವರ್ಗದವರಿಗೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂತಾಪಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಅಗಲಿದ ಆತ್ಮಕ್ಕೆ ಪರಮಾತ್ಮನು ಸದ್ಗತಿ ನೀಡಲಿ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ. ಓಂ ಶಾಂತಿ 🙏💐

ಅಂತ್ಯ ಕ್ರಿಯೆಯು ನಾಳೆ 27 ರ ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ 10 ಘಂಟೆಗೆ ದೇವಯ್ಯ ಪಾರ್ಕ್ ಬಳಿ ಇರುವ ಹರಿಶ್ಚಂದ್ರ ಘಾಟ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ನೆರವೇರಲಿದೆ.

Our dear Amma Nirmala Shankar Shet passed away yesterday in her 91st age in Ramgarh, Jarkhand. Her last rites will be held at Kumta tomorrow. Amma lived an exemplary life and was a source of inspiration to us. She was born in Islur family and was married to late Shankar Anant Shet of Kumta Bandodkar family. Prayers for Amma’s noble soul. We will miss you.

ನಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ ಅಮ್ಮ ನಿರ್ಮಲಾ ಶಂಕರ್ ಶೇಟ್ ಅವರು ನಿನ್ನೆ ತಮ್ಮ 91 ನೇ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಜಾರ್ಖಂಡ್‌ನ ರಾಮಗಢದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಧನರಾದರು. ಅವರ ಅಂತಿಮ ಸಂಸ್ಕಾರ ನಾಳೆ ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ ಕುಮಟಾದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಲಿದೆ. ಅಮ್ಮ ಆದರ್ಶಪ್ರಾಯರಾಗಿ ಜೀವನ ನಡೆಸಿ ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೆ ಸ್ಫೂರ್ತಿಯ ಸೆಲೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಅಮ್ಮನವರ ಆತ್ಮಕ್ಕೆ ಶಾಂತಿ ಸಿಗಲಿ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ. ಓಂ ಶಾಂತಿ 🙏

We regret to inform you that Chandrashekar B, fondly called Chandru, passed away this morning in Bangalore after brief illness. Mortal remains will be at their home in Mathikere today and cremation will be tomorrow.

Chandru was very amicable and was an active volunteer in Bangalore Gudigar activities. Prayers for his noble soul and our deepest condolences with the family.
