Celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities at Rurka Kalan

Today, as we celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Rurka Kalan Physiotherapy & Special Needs Children Centre, in collaboration with Sahaita, embraced the theme “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress.” Our celebration focused on promoting equal opportunities, participation, and inclusion for every child
With the support of teachers from Guru Nanak Khalsa Institute of Special Need (Sang Dhesian) and Government Primary School, Rurka Kalan (Girls), we brought together special children from different communities. Their collaboration helped create a space where children could come together, engage in meaningful activities, and truly experience the spirit of inclusion.

A total of 30 special kids (19 boys and 11 girls), aged 2–18, took part in activities like ball throwing, sensory walks, shape colouring, thumb painting, and balance training—helping strengthen motor skills, coordination, and creativity.

We extend heartfelt appreciation to all teachers, children, and parents for their support in making this day meaningful and inclusive.

On World Physiotherapy Day (8th September 2025), Rurka Kalan Physiotherapy & Special Needs Children Centre, in collaboration with Sahaita celebrated by organising an Awareness Camp on Healthy Ageing, focusing on preventing frailty and falls among the elderly.

The camp brought together 45 participants (25 men and 20 women) to learn practical strategies for safer, healthier living—including self-assessment tools, targeted exercises, nutrition guidance, and environment modifications.

The day was made even more meaningful by the inspiring stories shared by participants, highlighting their journeys of recovery and improved well-being with our support.

This celebration underscores that physiotherapy is not just about treatment—it’s about empowerment, prevention, and enhancing quality of life at every stage of ageing.

Sitting might seem like a small thing — but for children with special needs, it’s a big milestone.

When a child learns to sit with comfort and stability, it opens the door to better focus, stronger muscles, and more confidence in how they move and feel.

Even deep squat positions are powerful — they give sensory input, improve joint movement, and help children understand where their body is in space.

We support every small step that leads to big growth.

On 15th January 2025,Rurka Kalan Physiotherapy & Special Needs Children Centre, in collaboration with Civil Hospital Jalandhar, organized a Unique Disability Identification (UDID) Card Camp for persons with disabilities and special children.

Dr. Sahil Kundal (Orthopedic Specialist) and Dr. Taranjit Kaur (Psychiatrist),assessed 45 individuals (35 males and 10 females) and ensured their successful registration for UDID cards.This camp aimed to support persons with disabilities and special children in accessing vital services and resources.
