The Foundation of Technology and Business Incubation (FTBI), NIT Rourkela successfully organized a 3-Day “3D Printing Workshop” from 11th to 13th May 2026 for school students from various schools of Rourkela.
Around 50 students enthusiastically participated in the workshop and gained practical exposure to advanced 3D Printing technologies, innovation, design thinking, and rapid prototyping. The workshop was conducted with the objective of encouraging young minds towards technology, creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
During the workshop, students learned the fundamentals of 3D Printing, 3D modeling and design concepts, prototype development, and the process of converting innovative ideas into real-time products. Participants also received hands-on training on operating 3D printers and understanding modern fabrication technologies.
One of the major highlights of the program was the interaction session with FTBI incubated startups, where students explored innovative products developed by startups and learned about real entrepreneurial journeys, product development processes, and startup ecosystems. This interaction motivated students to think beyond textbooks and explore innovation-driven career opportunities.
The workshop significantly enhanced the students’ technical knowledge, creativity, problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and practical understanding of emerging technologies. Students showed great interest in robotics, product design, artificial intelligence, manufacturing technologies, and startup culture during the sessions.

We are proud to share that Mr. Chiranjibi Samal, CEO of FTBI, NIT Rourkela, has been honoured with the prestigious “BPUT Success Stories Award” during the BPUT Industry Academia Conclave 2.0 organized in association with OMCA on 12 May 2026 at CSIR–Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT), Bhubaneswar.

The award was presented by Shri Sampad Chandra Swain, Hon’ble Minister for Skill Development & Technical Education and Industries Department, Government of Odisha, in recognition of his outstanding contribution towards entrepreneurship development, startup ecosystem strengthening, innovation promotion, incubation support, and employment generation for the youth of Odisha.

Under his leadership, FTBI NIT Rourkela has successfully supported numerous startups and conducted entrepreneurship awareness programs, innovation bootcamps, technology workshops, and startup acceleration initiatives across Odisha and neighbouring states.

This recognition brings pride to the entire FTBI family and highlights the growing impact of the startup and innovation ecosystem being developed at FTBI, NIT Rourkela.

🚀 MCL Startup Carnival 2026 – Celebrating Innovation & Entrepreneurship

It was a great pleasure to successfully organize the MCL Startup Carnival 2026 by FTBI, NIT Rourkela at Bhubaneswar. The event brought together innovative startups, industry leaders, government representatives, and investors on a common platform to promote entrepreneurship and technological innovation.

We were honored by the presence of Chief Guest Jyotirmay Sinha, GM (CSR), Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, along with distinguished guests from GAIL (India) Limited, National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), the Ministry of MSME, and MeitY Startup Hub.

The carnival provided a vibrant platform for startups to showcase their products and prototypes, share their success stories, and interact with industry experts and investors. The panel discussion on Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Startup Opportunities in India highlighted the growing opportunities for startups in the country.

Team FTBI visited TEXMiN, led by FTBI President Prof. Subrata Kumar Panda and CEO Chiranjibi Samal. It was a great privilege to visit TEXMiN on 20th February and witness its world-class infrastructure and cutting-edge facilities in the field of mining and technology. We were truly inspired by the visionary leadership and insights shared by the legendary and dynamic Deputy Director of ISM Dhanbad, Prof. Dheeraj Kumar.

The interaction with the TEXMiN team was highly enriching, insightful, and forward-looking, opening avenues for meaningful collaboration and knowledge exchange. We sincerely thank TEXMiN for their warm hospitality, support, and cooperation. We look forward to building a strong and impactful association ahead. 🎉 Successful Completion of MSME – Entrepreneurship Awareness Program (EAP) 🎉
The Foundation for Technology & Business Incubation (FTBI), NIT Rourkela, successfully conducted the MSME – Entrepreneurship Awareness Program (EAP) at FTBI, NIT Rourkela.
We were delighted to host 40 enthusiastic students from UGIE, Rourkela, who participated actively in the session held from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The program aimed to sensitize students towards entrepreneurship, innovation, startup opportunities, and the MSME ecosystem, and witnessed encouraging engagement and curiosity from the participants.
