This foot suspension bridge serves as a vital link connecting several nearby villages to Desali. It plays an essential role in facilitating daily movement, enabling residents to travel safely across the area. The bridge not only enhances accessibility but also strengthens social and economic connections among the villages, making it an indispensable part of the local infrastructures.

This bamboo log bridge serves as a temporary passage to cross streams and small nallahs. During the summer rains, when water levels rise, crossing becomes very difficult and risky. It is the only way for villagers to reach their agricultural fields and nearby villages.

This is the Kala River, where a foot suspension bridge was constructed in the 1990s but was washed away during heavy floods. Now, we are laying a wooden bridge over the river to enable people to cross and reach March Village. Some glimpses of my native village, now turned into a jungle. Till 2010, we were living safely in our homes in Runli Village (Old SIB/CRPF Transit camp). However, after severe natural calamities in 2012, we lost many foot suspension bridges, pathways, and several wooden bridges were washed away. As a result, we were completely cut off and had to leave the village to settle in Desali. Now, after a gap of 15 years, we, the villagers of Runli, have decided to resettle in our village. To commute to the CO headquarters at Desali, we still face many challenges. Nevertheless, we are determined to rebuild our homes and resettle in our village, despite all difficulties. A glimpse of Jhum cultivation by the villagers of Runli, where agriculture is more than just producing food—it is a tradition, a culture, and a shared effort of the entire community. The fields represent hope, survival, and the deep connection between the people and their land.
