Proud moment for Us.

In the forests of Arunachal Pradesh, a young engineer named Minom Pertin took a photo of a butterfly. When his friends asked, “What butterfly is this?”—he didn’t know. So he went back to the jungle to find out.

That small moment turned into a big journey. Minom began studying butterflies, taking photos, and learning more from experts. In 2016, he started an organisation called SEED (Society for Education and Environmental Development) to teach people in remote villages about nature and butterflies.

Since then, he has found and recorded over 421 types of butterflies, including three that had never been seen in India before: Striped Hairstreak, Elusive Prince, and Huang’s Mystic. Most of these were found in Namdapha National Park.

Every year, he organises the Namdapha Butterfly Meet, where villagers, scientists, and nature lovers come together to celebrate and protect butterflies.
