Going beyond proposals and numbers, the team from Nucleus Software Foundation (NSF) visited us in Sonbhadra to understand the people and context that shape our work.

Before beginning their support for Abhivyakti, our school learning programme, Madhu ji, Neeta ji, and team from NSF interacted with children and community members, observed a learning session facilitated by our team, and spent time understanding our work firsthand.

These interactions helped build a deeper understanding of what we do, how we do it, and why we do it.

Today, with NSF's support, 10 young people from the local community are emerging as Youth Edu-Leaders, creating change in their village schools while becoming role models for the children they work with.

Gratitude to the Nucleus Software Foundation for believing in our work. We look forward to many more such visits and shared learnings.

The time of the day, when children eagerly wait to choose what they want to read.

When every week the Padhne Ki Ghanti rings, their independent reading hour starts at school.

And on most such days, we see something interesting: attendance shoots up.

But why? What makes a library period so special?

Through Padhne Ki Ghanti, children not only get access to a variety of literature from stories and poems to books across themes and genres. They participate in read-alouds, storytelling, kitabon ki antakshari, and more activities turning the library into a space that is lively, and full of children’s voices.

Our approach to the library goes beyond simply improving reading skills. It is about helping children discover the joy of reading, express themselves freely, make choices, and take ownership of their learning space.

Would you like to support Padhne Ki Ghanti in rural government primary schools and help make reading a part of more children’s school experience?

Happy Independence Day to everyone! 🇮🇳🌻✨

What, according to you, is the pathway to true freedom?

We believe that access to quality education for every child is one of the most powerful forces for breaking the shackles of poverty in all its forms.

Every child, in every village, deserves a safe and conducive learning environment where they can flourish.

With the right to freedom comes an equal responsibility to help make it a reality for all.

This Independence Day, let us come together to make freedom accessible by making quality education accessible to every child.

What are you reading these days? 🌻

A book can take us places we may never visit, introduce us to lives we may never live, and open our minds to ideas we would otherwise never encounter.

That is the joy of reading.🌈

Sometimes, a book is simply a way to spend a quiet afternoon and follow a curious thought.

For our youth eduleaders, though, reading is also part of preparing for the classroom. Before they bring a story to children, they read it themselves, exploring its nuances and thinking through how to bring it to life through storytelling.

So, in many ways, every day is a reading day for our team.

As we continue celebrating Library Week, following National Librarian's Day on 12 August, we are sharing a glimpse into what our team is reading right now. 🤍

In Sonbhadra, heritage is part of everyday life. 🌻

Often referred to as the tribal heartland of Uttar Pradesh, Sonbhadra has the highest proportion (20.7%) of Scheduled Tribe population in the state (Census 2011).

The district is home to diverse indigenous communities, including the Gond, Kharwar, Baiga and others, whose knowledge, languages, and ways of life have been passed down through generations.

Through our work in schools and alongside communities, we create spaces that encourage people to embrace their identity, and take pride in where they come from.🌈

We believe that acceptance of identity is a source of agency, dignity, and self-expression. It also means challenging narratives that label communities as “backward” and creating opportunities for them to see themselves as knowledge-holders and equal participants in shaping their futures.

This World Indigenous Day, we reaffirm our commitment to creating spaces where people do not have to leave their identity behind to move forward. ✨

When a new educator enters a classroom, they create space for play, listening, questioning, discovery, and connection. 🌻

For us, becoming an educator is not simply about stepping into a classroom and teaching a lesson. It is about creating a new learning environment with curiosity, observing children, understanding their ways of learning, building trust, and finding meaningful ways to make learning joyful.

Our Youth Eduleaders have recently begun their journeys across classrooms in Sonbhadra. These early moments are filled with new faces, new questions, games, stories, and countless opportunities to learn for both the children and the educators.✨

Here is a glimpse of the beginning.

We are excited to introduce you to the educators behind these moments. Stay tuned. 🌻

There are many paths to achieving a goal.
Each of us can choose one. But when we all walk together, we reach that goal faster.

Our goal is to establish government primary schools in the remote tribal villages of Sonbhadra as effective centres of learning and discourse.

And there are many ways to help us get there.

- Sponsor children's literature that opens up new worlds.
- Support a child's education for a year.
- Stand with us by following and engaging with our stories.
- Introduce us to someone in your network who believes in equitable education and could become a supporter or partner.

Every path matters. Every contribution brings us one step closer to the finish line.

As this month comes to an end, which path will you choose to walk with us?

Have you ever visited a government primary school in a rural village in India?

it looks different from what many of us imagine a school to be. Often, different even from a government school in a city. Yet our expectations from every child remain exactly the same.

We expect them to read fluently. Solve problems confidently. Express themselves with ease. Have grade-appropriate learning outcomes.

But can we expect the same outcomes when the starting points are so unequal.

A classroom with teacher shortages. Unreliable electricity. Limited resources. These cannot give children what they need to thrive.

We believe that the strong foundations are built in the early years. We work alongside government school teachers in Sonbhadra, strengthening foundational language and literacy and making learning joyful for children.
