Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji - Muniji and Pujya Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati ji pray for Bharat’s prosperity, Uttarakhand’s well-being and protection of Maa Ganga

, October 3: Amidst the majestic Himalayas and on the sacred banks of Maa Ganga, a divine Ganga Aarti was performed at Gangotri Dham with deep devotion and spiritual fervour.

Parmarth Peethadhishwar Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji Maharaj and Pujya Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji offered darshan and worship to Maa Ganga and prayed for the prosperity, peace, harmony and well-being of Bharat, along with the continued well-being of Uttarakhand.

The sacred occasion also witnessed the divine presence of Pujya Swami Ji and Pujya Sadhvi Ji at the Ram Katha being narrated by Sant Murli Dhar Ji. The confluence of Ramcharitmanas Katha, Maa Ganga and the Himalayas created a deeply spiritual atmosphere for devotees.

Pujya Swami Ji said that Maa Ganga is not merely a river, but the lifeline of Bharat and a symbol of its faith, culture and Sanatan consciousness. Ganga Aarti is not merely a ritual of lighting lamps; it is an expression of gratitude towards nature and a reminder of our responsibility to protect water and the environment.

The Ganga Aarti tradition at Gangotri also holds special significance. Years ago, Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji played an important role in initiating Ganga Aarti at Gangotri Dham. He prayed that this sacred tradition may continue for generations with the same devotion, dignity and spiritual splendour.

Pujya Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji said that Maa Ganga teaches humanity the spirit of selfless giving. “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah” — May all beings be happy and well — reflects the universal spirit of Sanatan culture. She emphasised that devotion to Maa Ganga must be expressed through seva, compassion and responsible action.

From Gangotri, a call was given to every pilgrim and visitor to become a Ganga Sevak: avoid single-use plastic, do not litter or pollute water sources, carry reusable alternatives, respect the Himalayan ecosystem and participate in keeping sacred pilgrimage sites clean.

The prayer is not only to worship Maa Ganga, but to protect Her. The true Ganga Aarti begins when our devotion becomes action.

May Maa Ganga remain pure and ever-flowing, may Devbhoomi Uttarakhand flourish, and may the timeless values of Sanatan culture continue to inspire generations.

Gangotri, 2 October: In the lap of the Himalayas, at the sacred land where Maa Ganga begins Her divine journey, a powerful message of seva, cleanliness and environmental responsibility resonated today.

On the auspicious occasion of the 157th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi Ji, Parmarth Peethadhishwar Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji Maharaj and Dr. Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji offered prayers at Gangotri Dham and sought the blessings of Maa Ganga.

Under the divine presence and guidance of Pujya Swamiji, the Rishikumars and Acharyas of Parmarth Gurukul, along with members of the Parmarth family, conducted a cleanliness drive at Gangotri Dham, giving the message of Swachhata Hi Seva — Cleanliness is Service.

Gangotri is not merely a pilgrimage destination; it is a living centre of India’s spiritual consciousness. Maa Ganga is not merely a river, but an eternal flow of India’s culture, faith, devotion and life. Therefore, keeping the banks of Ganga clean is not merely an environmental responsibility—it is also a sacred responsibility towards our faith.

Pujya Swamiji emphasised that Bapu regarded cleanliness as an integral part of life and character. To carry that vision forward through seva on the sacred land of the Himalayas and Maa Ganga is a meaningful tribute to his timeless ideals.

From Gangotri, Pujya Swamiji gave a clear call for Single-Use Plastic-Free Gangotri, Plastic-Free Uttarakhand and Plastic-Free Pilgrimages. He emphasised that visiting a pilgrimage site should not be limited to seeking darshan; it should also inspire us to serve and protect the sanctity of these sacred places.

If we come for darshan of Maa Ganga and leave plastic behind on Her sacred banks, our devotion remains incomplete. True devotion transforms darshan into responsibility, faith into action and worship into protection of nature.

On this sacred occasion, heartfelt tributes were also offered to Mahatma Gandhi Ji and former Prime Minister Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji, remembering their ideals of truth, non-violence, simplicity, courage, duty and dedicated service to the nation.

The Parmarth family also prayed for the speedy recovery of Flydubai Captain Smit Machchhar Ji, who demonstrated courage and a strong sense of duty during a grave crisis. The evening Parmarth Ganga Aarti was dedicated to his recovery and well-being.

Pujya Swamiji shared that the Himalayas teach us patience, Maa Ganga teaches us to keep flowing, and Hanuman Ji inspires us with courage. India’s great spiritual tradition teaches us to transform these values into seva.

From the sacred land of Gangotri comes a profound message:

Pilgrimage is not merely a place we visit; it is a responsibility we embrace.

Let us return from the banks of Maa Ganga with a sacred resolve: wherever we are, may there be cleanliness; wherever there is nature, may there be protection; wherever there is society, may there be seva; and wherever there is India, may there be the spirit of Nation First.

🌿 With this spirit of seva, the “One Tree in the Name of Mother – One Tree in the Name of Mother Earth” initiative was also undertaken through a heartfelt plantation and environmental commitment.

🧹✨ Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 | Cleanliness is Our Culture ✨🧹

“One Day, One Hour, All Together” — with this spirit of collective service, students and Rishikumars at Parmarth Niketan came together today to spread the message of cleanliness, seva and social responsibility. 🙏

🌿 Students of Parmarth Vidya Mandir and Rishikumars of Parmarth Gurukul organised a cleanliness rally, carrying inspiring messages on cleanliness and environmental protection and encouraging everyone to contribute towards a cleaner India.

🧹 Following the rally, the students and Rishikumars actively participated in a cleanliness drive and shramdaan, cleaning the ashram campus and surrounding areas.

🙏 They also took a Swachhata Pledge, resolving to practise cleanliness themselves and inspire their families, schools, ashrams and communities to make cleanliness a part of everyday life.

🌱 Keeping public spaces clean, avoiding littering and reducing unnecessary use of plastic—small, conscious actions can become the foundation for a much larger transformation.

Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji - Muniji, Parmarth Peethadhishwar, shared:

“Cleanliness is our culture. When we keep our surroundings clean, we do not only transform the environment; we awaken new energy, new awareness and a deeper sense of responsibility within ourselves.”

He emphasised that children and youth are among the greatest forces for positive change. One hour of shramdaan, one small initiative and one clean habit can together become the foundation of a greater transformation.
