I corsi trattano di argomenti quali: come coltivare vegetali e piante locali nella maniera adatta, scienza, computer, matematica, artigianato e inglese. A causa della severa inondazione che ha travolto l’India nel 2010, alcune scuole di villaggi rurali sono state danneggiate. Operando in classi di fortuna, l’ Himalayan Rural Welfare Society, ha ritenuto che fosse importante che i bambini non perdessero la scuola, per questo motivo sono riusciti ad ottenere che la comunità ricevesse aiuti sotto forma di donazioni di denaro, cibo, vestiti e libri. Aveen Badoni and Amit Bisht are working together with other volunteers of theHimalayan Rural Welfare Society, a non-profit organization, to promote education in remote villages in northern Uttarakhand, India. Their broad objective is to encourage self-sufficiency in the villages through programs that focus on social, cultural and economic development. People are informed about how to make the best use of their natural environment in order to provide food and to earn a living. Courses are offered on topics such as how to grow local herbs and vegetables in a sustainable manner, science, computers, math, handicrafts, and English. Due to severe flooding in India in 2010, some rural village schools suffered damage. While operating in makeshift classrooms the Himalayan Rural Welfare Society thought it was important that children not miss out on school therefore they have been reaching out to the community to ask for help in the form of cash donations, food, clothing and books. In March, 2011 a group from Almonte, Ontario, Canada – visiting Rishikesh on a yoga retreat – brought books over in their luggage for the Helping Hands for India Children’s Book Drive.
